Family time is not just for Christmas

When you think of Christmas Day, what comes to mind? A mammoth roast turkey with all the trimmings, presents galore scattered beneath the tree, an afternoon nap in front of the TV or a reunion with your family (war over a game of Monopoly is optional)?

Family time tends to be at the forefront of our minds during the festive season, more so than at any other time of the year, but it might surprise you to learn that 1.5 million British adults only see their immediate family once a year – on Christmas Day.

Have yourself a Trolls Holiday

Last year we welcomed Trolls into our lives.  We were very lucky to be invited to the Trolls BFI Gala Screening – which was simply amazing!  This was Piglet’s first visit to the cinema, which she thankfully enjoyed due to the bold colours, amazing soundtrack and a packet of Wotsits.  Fast forward to this year and we had downloaded the film onto our Sky box (yes I am too lazy to keep putting the DVDs in and out of the DVD player) for us to watch one weekend.  The Trolls movie is a hit with all of us, but none more so that Piglet… Oh, my goodness, how she loves that film and Princess Poppy.

Incredible Ways To Winter Proof Your Home This Christmas

Christmastime isn’t only about drinking, eating and opening presents. Okay, it centres on those three things, but you need to fix up the house to have an amazing festive period. This doesn’t mean decorating the living room and putting up a tree, although you should do that before December 25th. Nope, it means getting the house ready for the onset of winter. After all, it will be a memorable day if your property can’t handle the onslaught, but for all the wrong reasons!

The Box Tree // Let The Elves Do It…

In years gone by many of us would scour the high street in search of the perfect gift for loved ones, family, and friends.  A combination of time constraints and convenience many of us are now shopping online for gifts.  But does shopping online make the gifts impersonal? It doesn’t have to.  With the help of The Box Tree elves, they have gifts which still have that personal touch and all wrapped up for you (literally!).

Get your game on with Venom this Christmas

Gaming has moved on just a touch from my childhood and both Roo and Tigger are well versed on how to load up games etc.  This Christmas they have pooled their Christmas wish and asked Father Christmas for a PS4 – with Tigger adding on a separate wish for the LEGO Worlds game.  Whilst there is a good chance that the big man will fulfill this wish (as long as bedrooms are kept tidy and chores completed), I have been looking at what gaming accessories are available to compliment the console.

Take a look at the selection of gaming accessories available from Venom…

Why Photos Make The Sweetest Christmas Gifts

There are a lot of gifts that you can buy for your loved ones for this upcoming Christmas — you can buy a box of chocolates, you could buy candles or even a nice gift card. All of these are lovely ideas, but these gifts are temporary — the chocolates will get eaten, the candle will melt and the money on the gift card will be spent on something else. Instead of getting the people you care about gifts that will only last for a short while, give them a beautiful collection of photos — this will be a meaningful present that will last a lifetime.

Christmas Traditions // Mince Pies

There are a few Christmas traditions from my own childhood that I’m eager to continue with my own children.  One of these is baking mince pies.  I can recall standing in the kitchen throughout the run-up to Christmas making batches of mince pies.  At times it seemed that we would never make enough as they seemed to disappear as soon as they came out of the oven.

How to Create a Christmas Penguin from your LEGO Advent Calendar

LEGO Advent Calendars are part of our Christmas traditions, and whilst the 24 LEGO items are used and loved throughout the year.  It is difficult to know what to do with the tray that comes inside of the advent calendar – currently, ours are separately LEGO into colours and parts. Children can now enjoy their advent calendars well beyond December 25th thanks to the LEGO Group, which has released its 2017 series featuring sustainable paper pulp trays inside the box.
