Life In Lockdown | Stepping Back {Week 12}

Here we are again, another week in lockdown. Now marking 12 weeks at home which feels like the longest time but at the same time, it does still have the feeling of an extended summer holiday – despite the rain that has decided to appear as we turned the calendar to June on Monday.

What we’ve been watching {May}

As the lockdown started we managed to utilise the additional ‘free-time’ we had by catching up on shows and movies together. Over the last month, this has continued although on a smaller scale as we are finding that we each like our won time to go off and do our own thing. Being with each other all day as well as the evenings are proving too much so we’ve separated to watch things on our own or read a book etc.

The Month That Was… May 2020

Despite it being the second full month in the lockdown, May felt as though it came and went all too quickly. A very different May to the one we would normally have enjoyed. Usually we are starting to ramp up our family adventures. Making the most of two bank holidays and the May half-term holidays to get out and about. This year our May has revolved around being at home and making the most of the garden. Time still spent as a family so we can’t complain (but we’re British, so we do!).

Life in Lockdown | Living in a bubble {Week 11}

The end of another week in lockdown and also the end of our second month full month. I do feel as though the time is starting pass by so quickly and before I know it another week has ended. When I think back to the beginning of lockdown and how I worried we’d fill the days at home, now I’m wondering how we are meant to fit in ‘real-life’ into our lives.

Monthly Goals | June 2020

Just like when I was on maternity leave with the children finding my days filled with activities and life. Lockdown has started to feel the same, with our days filled with things around the home and enjoying hobbies. I do wonder how we will ever manage to squeeze in full days of school and work again.

The Flatshare, After Life and Judgements #LittleLoves

Life continues in lockdown, adhering to social distancing measures and only heading out for essential journeys. As I worked from home before all of this kicked off, life, on one hand, hasn’t changed that much for me. On the other hand, we have less money coming in as my earning have all but stopped (thank goodness for the little bit of help from the SEISS grant). The children are home from school and we can’t head out on family adventures. But in the grand scheme of things we are very lucky to be surviving the current way of life.

Life In Lockdown | Out with the old {Week 10}

I’ve reached the stage in the lockdown where I know what day of the week it is only by what shift What The Dad Said it working. I have no recollection of what the actual date is. After watching some Instagram stories on Friday it suddenly reminded me that it was half term next week. A shorter school term between Easter and the May half term. The time is passing by so quickly in the haze of schoolwork, playtime and family time.

Life In Lockdown | How we are utilising our time at home

As social distancing and the lockdown continues I have been interested to see what others have turned to in order to pass the time. Distract themselves from the situation etc. Everyone is dealing the prolonged time at home differently. For some they are coping quite well, some are struggling and some are floating between the two, having a mixture of good and bad days.

Life In Lockdown | Nothing has changed for us {Week 9}

As I sat down to write my life in lockdown update last week I was anxious about the pending update from the Prime Minister. Later that evening I sat, watched and listened to the update on where the UK was with the Coronavirus outbreak. With announced changes to lockdown measures within England. To say that this update was unclear and contradicting is somewhat of an understatement. Quite frankly, I was appalled by the possible timescale for reducing the lockdown measures.

For your Tomorrow, we gave our Today

With VE-Day 75th anniversary celebrations very much in the media and on our minds last week. I watched Churchill’s speech, the coverage and social distancing street parties on the news. One of the things that have replayed on my mind time and time again is the ‘For your Tomorrow, we gave our Today’.
