Butlins Minehead Seaside Apartments

October 8, 2016

Last month we made the drive over to Butlins Minehead, something that should have only taken five hours. Due to road works and accidents it was closer to ten hours. However, as we approached the seafront we caught sight of Sir Billy Butlin’s Fairground and all the hours of travelling disappeared and we were excited to be heading into Butlins by the sea.

When booked our accommodation we opted for one of the Seaside Apartments which are new to Butlins Minehead for 2016. Following the positive feedback they received from the apartments at Skegness, they opted to bring them to Minehead too.

The centrally located development is found just behind guest services and a short stroll to the Skyline Pavilion and all the Butlins action. Available in a choice of two or three bedroom apartments, most come with either a patio or balcony.

What’s included

  • New two and three bedroom apartments
  • Balconies and patios available with some apartments
  • Short stroll to the beach and Skyline Pavilion
  • Seaside inspired interiors
  • Open-plan living and corner sofas
  • Brand new kitchens and shower rooms
  • Towels and Housekeeping

Lounge

A living room filled with furniture and a table

The light and bright apartment offer an open plan lounge with an L-shaped colourful settee. Complete with large patio doors overlooking the patio (we were on the ground floor), which on warm sunny days will really be an extension of the living quarters. A flat screen TV and coffee table complete the lounge furniture.

The room is finished with various seaside memorabilia from pedal carts racing along the beach to the ice cream cushions (which I really wanted to bring home with us).

Kitchen

The open plan living quarters continues with the kitchen and dining area. The blue teal colour continues throughout this area making the whole room feel like one. The striped splashback provides that added detail within a small but perfectly formed kitchen.

A kitchen filled with lots of furniture

Included within the kitchen is a cooker, hob, refridgerator, and microwave, alongside all the crockery and utensils you’d require for a family for four. There is also a quirky magnetic pin the tail on the donkey game on the wall for the whole family to enjoy.

Complete with a table and chairs for you to be able to eat within the apartment. The apartments are designed to be flexible in case families wish to self-cater instead of booking one of the dining plans (although I recommend the premium dining – such a fabulous range of food available).

Double Bedroom

A bedroom with a bed in a room

We stayed in a two bedroomed seaside apartment and the larger of the two bedrooms was the double. Comprising of a comfortable double bed, wardrobe, safe and flat-screen TV. Continuing with the blue teal colour in the bedroom brought a unified feel to the apartment whilst little touches like the pod lights and contrasting pillows and bed runner added colour.

Twin Bedroom

A bedroom with a bed and desk in a room

Roo and Tigger shared the second bedroom, a twin room which had a contrasting deep red wall with a beautiful cloud mirror/light detail. Comprising of two single beds, wardrobe and bedside table is was compact but more than enough space for the two older children.

It’s the little details throughout the seaside apartments that I only noticed throughout the stay. For example, the poem on the blinds within the bedrooms, the way that housekeeping spent that extra minute or two folding the children’s pyjamas and placing their soft toy nicely on their bed. And the towel animal creations that had us guessing which one we would receive each day.

Bathroom

The shower room was small but perfectly formed with everything you needed to hand. The simply white and teal coloured tiles made the room feel bright and modern. With a towel crab to greet you as you first enter including instructions on how to make your very own (something that the kids loved trying to do).

  • Shower
  • Toilet
  • Basin
  • Heated towel rail
  • Large mirror
  • Storage space for towels and toiletries

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

We booked a two bedroom seaside apartment as Piglet is still sleeping in a travel cot, however, when we next visit I would pay the extra and go for a three bedroom as we had to place the travel cot in the lounge overnight as there wasn’t enough space in either of the bedrooms for it. This wasn’t a huge inconvenience as we were usually back late after the evening entertainment and there was a TV in the double room for Mr. Boo and me to watch.

The fresh seaside looks to the apartment was something we really liked. The retro prints and teal colours really made the apartment feel light, bright and as though you were inside a beach hut next to the sea. It is certainly somewhere we will be looking to book again in the future.
