Blogging has become a pretty popular way to make money and earn a living. There’s something magical about being a part of the blogging community. With this job, you end up being a part of a huge community of people who know what blogging entails. You’re able to experience so much more and be your own boss on top of it all.

While blogging is a very awesome career, there are some pros and cons of blogging just like everything else in your life. Today I’m going to share the pros and cons of blogging to help you understand more about this world of blogging.

The Pros of Blogging

Earn Money

There are so many ways to make money blogging. You can start your own online store and use the blog to promote it. You can earn money with affiliate programs by promoting brands you love. Then there are ad networks that pay you to put their advertisements on your blog. This means that blogging allows you to earn money through multiple methods.

Builds Community

When you start blogging on a regular basis you’ll find that you connect with so many people. Blogging builds a community of like-minded people who are there to read what you have to say, share their own experiences, and help you along the way by sharing their own advice about blogging for a living. It’s simply amazing how community-like the blogging arena is.

Be Your Own Boss

If you’ve opted to use blogging as a means to make money for your family, then you’re one of the many who calls blogging their job and they are their own boss. Being your own boss means you get a flexible schedule, can work from anywhere so as long as you have an internet connection and are able to make as much or as little cash as you desire.

Cons of Blogging

Time Consuming

Some people don’t realize just how time-consuming blogging can be. This is especially true if you’re looking to use blogging as a form of income. You’ll need to learn SEO, best formatting rules for blog posts and blog on a regular basis to stay on top of your blogging game. There are many times the blogging community tells outsiders how much time is involved and it’s not always amazing when compared to the income we earn.

Requires Creativity

In order to be truly successful in blogging, you have to use a huge level of creativity. Sometimes you may feel tired, overwhelmed or have things going on in your personal life that reduces your ability to be creative. This can be a major con when it comes to using blogging as a form of income. If you’re not a natural with creativity or find that your current life stressors are too high, then it will impact your ability to blog.

There are by far more pros and cons when it comes to blogging. I mean it’s a really awesome way to make money while doing something you love and building a positive community around you. The options to earn money with blogging are endless when you put in the effort, dedication and time.

sadly you have to put in the time, effort, and creativity for months or even years before you “make it big” and difficult to do if you have a job already. Have seen a lot of amazing opportunities for bloggers and it is lovely to see.
For me it is a part time hobby that is building a diary to look back on.

I love blogging however I couldn’t do it full time. I love my day job and couldn’t give that up.

We love the aspect of blogging as a creative outlet, so wouldn’t see it so much as being a con. It is totally time consuming and needs so much nurturing and self promotion though even for people that do it on the side x It’s our hobby and that takes the pressure off I suppose x

I have been blogging for almost 8 years, and for 6 of them it has been my full time job. To be honest, I don’t earn that much compared to the amount of hours I put in. But I love how flexible it is and if one day I feel like not working I don’t have anyone telling me I have to.

  • Anosa June 19, 2019 at 8:38 pm

It definitely time-consuming, I am not sure if I am creative but I guess each to their own.
