The Great British Home #GreatBritishHome

April 3, 2014

When Mr Boo and I first moved into our first home, it was a small one bedroom, third floor flat. We simply moved in and didn’t do much to it for the first year or so, we didn’t even change the colour on the walls. I guess looking back it was a mix of lack of money and us not really knowing what our style was.

Slowly we started making small changes like painting the bedroom and then the small painting disaster in the hallway. I showed Mr Boo a fabulous turquoise colour on the paint chart, ‘lovely‘ he replied. So whilst he was at work the next day I popped out bought the paint and painted the hallway, when he came home ‘what have you done!‘ he exclaimed. I politely explained I’d showed him the colour the night before to be told ‘you didn’t actually think I was listening. did you?‘.

So you can see it has taken us a few years to get our tastes in sync, there are areas that we still disagree on. I still like a splash of colour whereas he prefers a feature wall. Our bedroom renovations went well last year and had our car not broken earlier this year we would have been on track to make a start on the downstairs (oh well, what’s another year).

The extra time does give us more time to iron out exactly what we want, colours and more importantly find where we can get the best deal on fixtures and fittings. Victoria Plumb have a fabulous Great British Home quiz called ‘What’s your celebrity home style?‘ running at the moment and I urge you to take it. Simply answer a few home related questions and voilà you are matched to your celebrity style soul mate.

As you can see I was labelled at Quirky Cool just like Jess from New Girl, not having watched the programme I’m not sure how accurately I have been matched. I have to say though the bathroom that they have suggested is right up my street apart from the brick walls, I’d prefer some plaster and paint instead.

This post is an entry for #GreatBritishHome Challenge sponsored by Victoria Plumb, a source of quality bathrooms for every type of home. Take its “What’s Your Celebrity Home Style?”
