My Very Own Rainbow by Brainstorm Toys {Review}

April 3, 2014

Children and adults alike have a thing about rainbows, I’m sure we are not the only family who is happy to see a rainbow when we are out and about. Imagine having the ability to have your own rainbow in your child’s room (or even your own). Brainstorm Toys have a great new product out My Very Own Rainbow, bringing the magic of rainbows into your home.

What’s in the box

  • My Very Own Rainbow projector
  • Sunlight rainbow crystal
  • Educational booklet

The projector requires 4x AAA batteries (not included) or can be powered by a mains adapter (not included, please note that if using a mains adapter the auto shut off function will not work).

How it works

This light projector uses multi-coloured LEDs contained deep within the projector’s arc to shine their light towards a unique reflective surface, diverting and beaming it high onto the nearest flat surface.

The My Very Own Rainbow comes complete with 2 modes, one which turns the whole multicoloured light show on at once and the other which fades the rainbow in and out.

Includes an auto shut off mechanism to help preserve battery life, making the My Very Own Rainbow a perfect night light.

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

I’m terrible when it comes to having available batteries in our house so I was pleased to see that it comes with the option of adding a mains adapter (which I managed to ‘borrow’ from Roo’s old night light). Setting the My Very Own Rainbow couldn’t be simpler, the batteries are inserted into the compartment in the base of the projector (secured by a small screw so that little fingers can’t get to them) or in my case plug the adapter into the side.

Once I had set this up in Roo’s bedroom and seen it is action I have to say that I almost ‘borrowed’ it for my room.

Who doesn’t want a rainbow in their room?

You can chose what angle to have the projector set up, so whether you prefer a full rainbow or a partial rainbow that spreads across the wall.

The only downside to the unit is that to switch between the two modes (steady or fade) you have to lift the unit and toggle the switch on the base of the unit, not something I am happy for Roo to be doing. Personally I would like to see this switch be incorporated within the on/off switch, by pressing the button the number of times you require i.e. on-fade-steady-off.

With a RRP of £20.00 is in the same price bracket as most night lights, however this is an extra special night light option. Available from Amazon and Play.com

Disclosure: We received My Very Own Rainbow FOC for the purpose of review.
