Kellogg’s Special K Multi-Grain Porridge Review

Being a northerner I am often asked whether I a) like porridge and b) have it with water or milk… Well, yes I do like porridge but with milk (I have no idea why anyone would eat it with water… yuck!).  Those lovely folk over at Kellogg’s recently contacted me regarding the new Special K Multi-Grain Porridge and asked whether I’d like to warm my mornings up with some tasty samples… it would be rude to say no.

As if by magic the mornings have turned cooler and with the recent storms hitting the UK I’m sure I’m not the only one seeking something warm in the mornings to help start the day.  The new Special K multi-grain porridge is currently available in three  varieties; Simply Original, Almond & Honey and Red Berries.

‘New Special K Multi-Grain Porridge is made with the goodness of 3 grains, is naturally high in fibre and, as you would expect from Special K, is fortified with vitamins & minerals. All this and 30% less fat than other porridges!’

Availability and Price

Available in all major supermarkets and convenience stores, priced at £1.99 (RRP) for 7x 27g sachets of Simply Original or 6x 27g Red Berries or Almond & Honey.  Individual 50g pots are also available for 99p.

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

The sachets are simple to use, rip open the top and pour into a microwavable bowl, add milk to the empty sachet and fill to the line then add to the bowl.  A quick mix before adding to the microwave for 2 1/2 mins.  The portion size isn’t huge but then it doesn’t need to be to start your day with enough energy to get you through to lunchtime.

Personally the Almond & Honey variety wasn’t for me, I’m not a fan of honey and as the ready porridge smells highly of honey it did put me off.  I would love to see an Almond & Hazelnut variety hit the shelves as this would combine two of my favourite flavours.

i love the special k multi-grain blueberry & cranberry and as there is so little in the packets I add more blue berrys and hazelnuts that really fills me up till lunch time and I’m also getting extra protein :).
