Central Park Zoo
There is a number of family-friendly places to explore in Central Park. One of the most exciting is Central Park Zoo. The zoo is home to a number of animal species, including the popular sea lion exhibit. There’s also a separate Children’s Zoo where kids can interact with domestic animals like goats, a cow and a pot-bellied pig.
Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum
The USS Intrepid is an aircraft carrier, which was there during World War II, the Cold War and Vietnam. Afterwards, it was commissioned to help recover NASA spacecraft before finding new purpose as an Air and Space Museum.
The Intrepid is home to a number of fun exhibits, sure to delight the whole family. This includes the legendary NASA Orbiter Enterprise. The flight deck of the carrier is lined with 17 different aircraft representing all five branches of the US Armed Forces.
New York Hall of Science
The hands-on exhibits at this science museum are a big hit with kids and adults alike. There are over 450 exhibits to explore here, covering subjects from earth science and biology to arts and technology and so much more.
The Hall of Science also has an impressive 3-D theatre that features educational films and other wonderful 3-D experiences.
Chelsea Piers
Formerly four separate historic piers, Chelsea Piers is a sprawling sport and public recreation complex located right on the Hudson River. With a bowling alley, fitness centre, golf course and more, you’ll find all kinds of great activities there that are sure to keep your family entertained.
There are many activities aimed at getting kids active, such as the children’s gym and the youth rock climbing.
