As a child, I was often referred to as Betty Boop, due to my dark locks and head of curls. My Granny would insist upon putting a colourful ribbon tied on the top to complete the look. As I got older my curls dropped and I was left with frizzy wavy hair, which I battled to control throughout my teenage years (I don’t want to think about the amount of hairspray I used).
