Making Time For Play // Weekends Are Family Time

Long before I was married and had children, I worked with a lady who would talk about her daughter and granddaughter.  With great affection, she would talk about what adventures they had been up to at the weekend.  You see, her daughter worked full time during the week, with her granddaughter attending nursery whilst she was at work.  The weekends, however, were theirs.  A time to dedicate two full days to fun, adventures and everything else.  Cramming in as much as possible into the time they had together.

Birthdays, #WWEButlins and Diary of a Wimpy Kid #LittleLoves

Thank the heavens it is Friday! It has been one of those weeks in the Boo Roo and Tigger Too household.  With an amazing family trip to Butlins Minehead for their #WWEButlins weekend.  Roo had the opportunity to celebrate her 11th birthday whilst we were there and she had such a wonderful weekend.  Heading home in time to celebrate Tigger’s 7th birthday (never a good idea to have birthdays three days apart).  After that it all went downhill, with all of us suffering in one way or another will illness, with Tigger being sent home from school on Thursday after being sick in his classroom (so sorry Miss M and Miss C).  Add into the mix technical issues with my laptop and blog, I have simply wanted to crawl back under the duvet and hide from the world.

Reflective Mood, London Dungeons and The Gruffalo’s Child#LittleLoves

I’ve been in quite a reflective mood this week, prompted by a visit to London which I was asked questions about my blog.  How I started it, why I blog, what I blog about etc.  It made me think back to the good old days when blogging was much simpler.  I simply wrote about what I wanted, in the way I wanted and pressed publish.  Whereas now there is so much more that goes into creating a blog post and I guess I miss those simpler days.

Have I lost my way?

Yesterday I was in London attending a workshop that I’d been asked to take part in. It was lovely to be invited down to London and get to chat about my blog and family life.  I chatted to the various people in attendance who for the most part either had not read my blog or even understood blogging.  They asked me questions such as why I started blogging, the subjects I write about and whether I get people contacting me for advice or thanking me for sharing a similar experience to them.

High School, Organisation and #BlogOnXmas #LittleLoves

I’m sure that someone has sneaked a few extra days into this week.  Which in some ways is a good thing as it feels like I have been here, there and everywhere this week.  On the other hand, I just haven’t been feeling 100% so I’ve wished for bedtime to come around quicker more than once.  The big milestone this week has been going to look at a local high school for Roo.  Not quite sure I’m ready for her to move up to high school next year but I know that she is ready for the next challenge.

Time for this week’s #Little Loves…

Guardians of the Galaxy, Dragon Puppets, and A Lost Tooth #LittleLoves

Friday once again and I have no idea where this week has gone. With a weekend full of trips into the city for a dragon puppet workshop with Norwich Puppet Theatre. They were awarded almost £5,000 from the Aviva Community Fund for their Voice of a Child work.  The children had a fantastic time and we just about managed to dodge the rain showers.  Followed by a family get together on Sunday to celebrate Mr. Boo’s birthday.  Everything after that is a blur of school runs, food shopping, and cleaning.

Time to share this week’s #LittleLoves…

Dear Toothfairy: The Swallowed Tooth Edition

Dear Toothfairy

Today Tigger lost his first tooth, aged 6 years, 9 months, and 11 days.  he has been carefully guarding his precious milk teeth.  Whilst having the anticipation that one day you would be making a middle of the night trip to visit him, rather the Roo.

Days filled with mud, sweat, and sunscreen

Just like that our summer adventure days are over.  It is time for us to blast back to reality, with the children returning to school and nursery.  I can start to ensure the usual family routine is back in place and the house is returned to its pre-summer state.  It is time to pack away the things we have accumulated over the holidays, from souvenir guide books, postcards and a whole host of photos – which I need to sort into a mammoth summer scrapbook to recall our adventures.
