A mini photo shoot gives couples and families the opportunity to gain a range of photographs within a natural setting. Beth currently offers her mini photo shoots at the Wheatfen Nature Reserve which offers an ever-changing backdrop depending on the time of year you visit.
During Piglet’s time in the hospital for her much-needed operation, it gave me a lot of time to ponder things about the lead up to her surgery and the surgery itself. With the days following my mind has been consumed with the same ponderings of why nobody asked…
At the beginning of the school year, I knew that there would be a letter coming home regarding Whitwell residential…
Feeling all kinds of anxiety about Piglet’s surgery, I managed to keep in mind the saying ‘when it’s dark look for stars’. Finding small signs and glimmers of hope when my mind was running away with itself.
This time last week I had just returned home following a day at The Baby Show with a good friend and two of the children. It was a day of an unplanned, but most welcomed digital detox. We were too busy chatting, laughing and exploring to even check our phones.
Have you ever questioned what it is that makes you so special? Last year whilst watching a TV series that we’d downloaded there was an episode in which a young mum goes for a job interview. In that interview, she is asked what makes you so special – she pauses and tries to think of an answer before replying… Nothing. I’m just a mum. With that, she gets up and walks away. At that moment the tears rolled down my face, it really struck a chord with me. This scene is one that I have replayed in my mind many times since. None more so than this past week.
It’s funny how things can change with a phone call. As I sit and write this I should be keeping a watchful eye on Piglet. I should be explaining to Tigger that he’ll have to miss his swimming lesson this week.
Except I’m not.
Having worked for the NHS for 15 years I am fiercely proud of the services available. Yes, they don’t always get things right. However, some of that is down to resources and funding rather than the people who treat you. The NHS is free at the point of access and whilst we pay for this via our National Insurance contributions. We are fortunate not to have to worry about large bills arriving after treatment.
This week has seen us get our monies worth from the NHS…
Thursday we had a few extra sneezes from Piglet. She always sneezes with such dramatic effect that it is easy to remember them. Friday brought even more, however, I dismissed it as a cold. It appears that piglet doesn’t do colds or at least just a cold. An unsettled night was followed by an hour or two of her perking up enough to play. Shortly followed by a slump. Falling asleep on the sofa whilst watching her favourite film, The Greatest Showman.
