One of the first films Mr Boo and I watched on DVD when we began dating was ‘10 Things I hate about you‘. It was and still is one of our favourite films to sit back and watch.
Earlier this week I spotted it on Sky on demand and just had to put it on. Kat’s version of Shakespeare’s Sonnet 141 always makes me cry, I don’t quite know why but I can’t help welling up.
I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car, I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big, dumb combat boots and the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick — It even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you’re always right. I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh — Even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it when you’re not around. And the fact that you didn’t call.
But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you — Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all
My daughter is 12 now so I’m am now reaping the rewards of her blossoming years by now being able to watch all the films I loved when I was younger. Tonight was Dirty Dancing! I also loved 10 things I hate about you and got to watch it with her a few weeks ago. I also love the poem, and the table dancing, and Heath Ledger singing ‘I love you baby’. Can’t believe how ’90s it looks now!
