Packing a bag and heading out

October 10, 2016

Packing a bag and heading out on days out is something that we do quite often as a family. From when Roo was little and I was on maternity leave or even in the afternoons after work, we’d hop in the car and go off exploring. As she started school and Tigger came along we had to squeeze our adventures into weekends and school holidays.

Over the years I’ve never thought twice about taking the children out and about, even on my own if Mr Boo is at work. Over the summer we managed to squeeze in lots of adventures together, which had made me a little anxious about going to theme parks on my own with all three but actually it wasn’t as bad as I thought.

At the weekend I faced my biggest challenge of taking all three children on the train to London. I’ve completed the trip with Roo and Tigger many times before but only once with just Piglet. After having to squeeze her into a train toilet in her car seat whilst I had a wee just about put me off train travel altogether. However, not one to be put off I decided that it would be OK as long as I had all the right things with me.

Packing a bag and heading out

I can remember a good friend of mine telling me just before I had Roo that whenever I left the house always make sure you have a good supply of wipes and double the amount of nappies that you think you will need. To this day I am always packing too many nappies just in case and well I think I need to buy shares in Aldi Mamia wipes as I have packets all around the house, car and changing bag… just in case. Mind you it’s not just Piglet that needs them, I still can’t understand how Roo and Tigger make such a mess when they eat.

Whenever we go out for the day I always pack a bag with a packed lunch, snacks and drinks in it. This is partly as I’m too tight to pay the prices at theme parks, not wanting to eat fast food and also helps with Tigger’s fussy eating too. So with packed lunches made for Roo and Tigger it was time to think about Piglet. How long would we be out? What meals would she need whilst we were out? and snacks? you can never have too many snacks to hand.

Aldi Mamia’s award-winning 100% organic baby food range starts at just 59p and includes fruit and savoury pouches, fruit pots, rice cakes, and flavoured spring water. Selecting a couple of food pouches which really do make eating on the go so much easier as I can squeeze it out onto a spoon for her and cut out the mess and hassle of pots. Plus as she gets older she will be able to eat straight from the pouches herself.

A day out in London

Thankfully our day out went without a hiccup, partly due to Mandi from Hexmum Plus 1 being on the same train as us from Norwich and Joy from PinkOddy who hijacked Piglet for lots of cuddles whilst we were in London. She also took this gorgeous photo of Piglet, which makes her look more like a toddler than the 10-month-old baby she is supposed to be (where has my baby gone?)

Thankfully I managed to pack more than enough nappies, wipes, and food for Piglet to last the day. She was happy with all the extra attention from the bloggers we met and even shared her wipes with us all on the train on the way home as we were sticky from eating doughnuts.
