The Room

Do you have a spare room that you could use for your Christmas grotto? Or would you like to turn your whole house into a Christmas wonderland? The decision is yours when it comes to choosing the room for your grotto, but our favourite idea involves investing in one of the custom steel buildings that you can build yourself and place on your land. Make sure you find the right location for your grotto and make sure it is big enough to fit all of the fun.

Get The Materials

This is a DIY project, so you are going to need a lot of materials to get you started. If you are using a shed or a room with windows, then you might need some large pieces of card or curtains that you can use to block out the light. On top of this, you’ll need tape, pins and other materials for hanging your decorations and lights. Make sure that you have everything you need before you start assembling to make this as easy and as fun as possible.

The Decorations

In every Christmas grotto, you need to have some amazing decorations. Think about investing in a large Christmas tree as well as some smaller trees to make a sort of forest in your grotto. You might also want to get some stars, bunting and bells for hanging around the walls of your grotto. The decorations are arguably the most important part of the grotto so make sure to go all out when you are buying them.

The Lights

This is a Christmas grotto, so you need to make sure that it is full of lights. Think about how you are going to decorate the inside as well as the outside with plenty of lighting. The more lighting the better as you want to make your grotto shine in the darker nights. If you are using an outdoor steel building or a shed, you might need some outdoor lighting, or a lot of extension cables so make sure to do your research.

The Extras

The final step in creating your own DIY Christmas grotto is to have a think about the extras. This includes things like fake snow or giant characters like Santa or reindeers. The more the better so make sure to get as many extras as you can if you want your Christmas grotto to stand out this year.
