Have you recently turned 40? Or, are you on your way to this milestone birthday? The good news is, this is your time to shine. Forty is the new 30, and having life experience means you can rock this decade with confidence.

It is no secret that your body, skin, mind, and relationships all change as you age. While your 40s have their own set of unique challenges, it is 100% possible to be healthy and happy. With the following tips, you will look and feel your best:

Mix Up Your Skincare Routine

If you haven’t already started using anti-aging products, now is the time to mix up your skincare routine. If fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots have started to appear, targeted products can be beneficial. An anti-aging serum can be implemented into your daily routine for a more potent dose of skin-loving ingredients. Look for one packed with vitamin E, which can plump, smooth, and firm your complexion.

Get Up and Get Moving

It is normal for your body to change over the years, and you may notice your clothes fit differently as you get older. Strength training is recommended for those over 40, paired with aerobic activity. You should always start with low impact workouts, especially if you haven’t exercised in a while.

Whether it is yoga, Pilates, or weights, you will feel stronger and your muscles will thank you for it. Cycling is a popular, low impact aerobic activity, and something you can do with a friend. Or, if you are time-poor, a brisk walk for 30 minutes a day is good for your overall health and well-being. Exercise can help prevent disease and other ailments, and the rewards are well worth the effort.

Maintain Your Relationships

Depending on your life stage, you may have more (or less) time than you did in your 30s. Humans are social beings, and positive relationships can improve your mental health.

Do you have a friend or family member you have been meaning to catch up with? Don’t lose these relationships in your 40s. Instead, take the time to invest in your friendships and say “yes” more often. If you are ready to network, you can find others with common interests by joining a club or group. For example, look for a book club or craft group — even one that meets virtually.

Make Time for the Things You Love

Use your time more wisely in your 40s by consciously scheduling in the things you love. This will give you a feeling of satisfaction, and you may even get to tick off some of your bucket list items.

For example, you may have neglected reading, drawing, or playing the piano. Or, you may have a list of things you have always wanted to try. Now that you are in your 40s, take some time out from the hustle and bustle and schedule some “me time” without feeling guilty!

Turning 40?

Your 40th birthday is a milestone worth celebrating. Health and well-being should be a priority, and you can start by exercising regularly and adding strength training to your workout mix. Reassess your skincare routine, and add anti-aging products as needed. Make time for your favourite hobbies, and reconnect with friends and loved ones.

With these simple tips, you will feel confident, content, and ready to tackle whatever life throws at you!
