September 26, 2017

The family home can be a place of magic, it’s where as kids we spend most of our time growing up. It’s important to make sure we get our homes right, and the floor is one of the most important areas.

Flooring comes in many different shapes, sizes, and materials. We’re going to break a few of them down today and help you try to find the perfect match for your home.

Engineered wood

Engineered wood is probably the most popular flooring type out there, for its stylish design and impressive durability, it is perfect for families. Oak is probably the most used type of wood and can come with different finishes and appearances. It has its pro’s, such as its impressive durability, and hard-wearing nature, making it perfect for homes with stampeding feet, and heavy traffic. It can damage quite easily, and unless a lacquered finish isn’t always water-resistant, but it is certainly one of the most durable of the flooring types.

Luxury Vinyl Tiles

Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) has its advantages, similarly to wood, it is incredibly durable and is possibly the strongest flooring out there. Its upper layer is scratch resistant, making it almost impenetrable and child toy proof. It’s extremely underrated in the flooring world, and despite its strength, that doesn’t take away from the fact it still looks great. It can come in all forms, shapes, and sizes. It also comes in individual tiles, so you can choose however you want to lay them, and create any sort of designs.

Laminate

The final floor we’re going to look at is laminate. It has its benefits price wise, it’s almost half the price of wood flooring, so is certainly great on a tighter budget. Another advantage is it will always keep its colour in the sunlight, meaning it won’t naturally fade like other flooring types. The installation process is also very easy and not very time-consuming, so if time is against you this is also a great option for you. It also has impressive durability and isn’t damaged as easily as other flooring.

In general, it is all down to personal choice, there is no right or wrong answer. We hope our guide has helped you a little into making the choice for yourself!
