Chessington World of Adventures celebrating the year of the penguin

April 4, 2015

For as long as I can remember Roo especially has had a thing about penguins, living close to a SEA LIFE Centre has meant that we can often be found saying hello to her favourite penguin Boomer. This year Chessington World of Adventures is celebrating the year of the penguin in more ways than one…

Dive into a penguin treetop hideout like no other, stay in one of just two exclusively themed DreamWorks Penguins of Madagascar rooms within the Chessington World of Adventures Safari Hotel. Kids will love the Madagascar characters who adorn the walls, and they also have their own separate sleeping area!

To book, visit Chessington.com or call 0871 221 3970 to speak to the Chessington team.

We recently stayed in a Temple Treasure room within the Azteca Hotel (full review to follow) and loved the attention to detail within the rooms. Although the package price might seem expensive you are getting far more than just a hotel room, you are getting an experience and one that my children are still talking about.

Penguins of Madagascar Live! Operation Cheezy Dibbles

Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private – the greatest and most hilarious covert birds in global espionage – are set to take on their biggest challenge yet in the brand new Penguins of Madagascar Live! Operation Cheezy Dibbles show on the Africa stage.

Even if you haven’t watched the Penguins of Madagascar film you are still able to appreciate the storyline and comedy value from the live show. Roo and Tigger loved watching the live show and I can see us sitting down to watch it again on our next visit to Chessington.

A new ride has arrived next to the Africa stage area – Penguins of Madagascar Mission: Treetop Hoppers. The newly themed Penguins of Madagascar ride for young adventurers, climb aboard before shooting into the sky.

Roo was brave enough to take on this challenge, however she did have difficulty getting into the seat unaided (it was quite funny to watch though).

Chessington World of Adventures – Penguin Cove

Chessington’s resident penguins are taking on a mission on their own as they are introduced to some brand new friends in their new, walk-through enclosure. Penguin Cove has been transformed to feature a new, larger viewing area and covered seating where guests can watch interactive feeding sessions and talks.

In addition, the brand new walk-through feature allows guests to come up close and personal with the Humboldt penguins in a safe and fun environment.

The new Penguin Cove was one of our favourite places, although it was a little cold for the all the penguins to come out we watched them being feed and will certainly be back to say hello on our next visit. Plus it’s right next door to the SEA LIFE Centre so you are able to enjoy all of the marine animals in one area.
