Why Opt for Laminate Flooring

December 17, 2016

Flooring is an important element of any house. Your floors are one of the first things people notice when they enter your home. The fact that they take up such a high percentage of the surfaces in a property means that getting them wrong and having to replace them, always works out expensive.

If it is time to replace one or more of the floors in your home, doing so using laminate flooring is well worth considering. Below we explain why that is, and give you some tips to help you to buy the right type for the job.

A wide choice of styles

Improvements in digital imaging technology mean that choosing laminate flooring, no longer limits you to having to lay a wood effect floor. It is now possible for manufacturers to replicate practically any flooring material. You can now buy stone and tile effect laminate flooring.

If you are a fan of wooden floors, opting for a laminate floor still, makes sense. It is now available in a huge choice of looks and finishes. These days, you can easily find everything from light pine up to dark mahogany, in a range of plank widths.

It is also becoming increasingly easier to find patterned wood flooring. For example, parquet, and herringbone patterns, which both look good in a hallway or a large living room, are now widely available.

If you really want something different, it is even possible to buy a customised laminate floor. This option is expensive, but it is no longer hard to find a firm that can take a photograph of a floor you like, and turn it into laminate flooring that you can lay in your home.

Easy to lay

As you can see from this video, laying laminate floor is extremely easy. Most people already own the necessary tools and have the right skills to be able to do the job themselves.

Durable and easy to Maintain

Once down laminate flooring is easy to keep clean. It only needs to be swept, and occasionally mopped over, to keep it looking good.

Provided you buy the right grade, this type of flooring is also very durable. If it is laid well and looked after properly, it will stay looking good for many years.

Buying tips

As you can see, it really does not matter what style of decor you like or how big your home is laminate flooring is a very good option. However, as with home decor projects, you need to take your time and do a bit of research before buying your new floor.

It is particularly important to buy this type of flooring from a trustworthy and well-established company. One that offers a good guarantee and will still be around to honour their warranty years down the line. If you do not buy your flooring from this type of firm, you run the risk of buying a product that has a very thin protective coating, which means the floor will look shoddy after just a few months of wear.
