Top 5 Simple Pleasures {Listography}

March 2, 2014

I’m so pleased to see that Kate Takes 5 has re-started the Listography linky, this is one of the first linky’s that I became aware of as a new blogger and whilst I didn’t religiously join in I certainly enjoyed seeing everyone’s take on the prompt.

So this week’s Listography is all about the simple pleasures in life…

1. Pyjamas

If there is one thing that I look forward to after a busy day at work or if I have had a particularly horrible school run it is my pyjamas. Personally I am a pyjama kinda gal rather than a nightdress, so either a fabulous flannel pair (think Ally McBeal and you won’t go wrong) or a comfy pair of old favourites.

2. Music

Music for me has the power to change my mood. It has really helped me recently on the school run either once I have dropped the kids off or I’m on my way to go collect them. Selecting something upbeat can make me walk quicker, put a spring in my step, although I can’t help but mouth the words as a walk (luckily I haven’t progressed to full on singing aloud).

3. Puzzle books

For as long as I can remember I have loved selecting my favourite pen, opening up a puzzle book and letting time pass me by as I complete wordsearches, codewords or arrowwords.

4. Praline

I love chocolate as much as the next person (well maybe a little bit more) but my absolute favourite has to be pralines. I love, love, love that hazelnut chocolate

5. Catching up with friends

Catching up with friends whether I saw them last week, last month or even last year is definitely one of my simple pleasures. Whenever I go out with my best friend, Mr Boo will always ask what time I will be back. No matter what time I tell him he will always say ‘oh I’ll expect at least an hour later then’. It doesn’t seem to matter how much we chat and chat I always manage to think of something I didn’t tell her.

What are your simple pleasures?

Why not pop over to Kate Takes 5’s Listography to see what everyone else has shared

They’re great choices, nothing beats a PJ day with chocolate and chatting to friends πŸ˜‰ When I first saw the picture, I thought you took immense pleasure in colour-coordinating your wardrobe, haha x

ooooh, praline… another thing on the ‘in common’ list.
But as for pyjamas…. great choice! A long time ago I used to invest in great pyjamas… now it doesn’t matter… I just feel better being in them. Simples.

  • Cathy March 3, 2014 at 7:16 am

A great list. There’s nothing better than being in comfy pjs. It’s good to read you are another music lover πŸ™‚

  • Midlife Singlemum March 3, 2014 at 7:19 am

I also love puzzle books. I spent the first year of my daughter’s life doing sudoku every night in bed – I was too tired to concentrate in reading a book and I’d not yet discovered the joys of social media.

  • Mammasaurus March 3, 2014 at 7:53 am

PJs totally rule – I love mine, always have πŸ™‚ Like Carolin I saw that first photo and thought ‘Woah ! Now THAT is a LOT of PJs!”

  • Sonya Cisco March 3, 2014 at 9:20 am

Ooh yes, PJs rule! I love pralines too, and music and actually everything- great list!

  • becky March 3, 2014 at 9:49 am

    ooh yes PJ’s and choc!

  • Mummy Barrow March 3, 2014 at 10:13 am

It really is the simple things that give us the most pleasure, isn’t it? Well certainly for me it is. A mug of tea and a good book and I am as happy as larry!

  • maggy, red ted art March 3, 2014 at 10:21 am

For a minute there I thought you had a rainbow closet and I thought “wow, she is neat!!” love the list!

  • Pinkoddy March 3, 2014 at 12:01 pm

I’m with you on music – I couldn’t not live without it. Just a weekend away with music that wasn’t for me was hard enough.

  • Beth March 3, 2014 at 1:17 pm

Praline and pyjamas? I think we may be kindred spirits – both of them at the same time maybe my definition of perfection!

  • jenny paulin March 3, 2014 at 1:25 pm

great choices Sarah and to be honest what would be better than wearing pjs, reading a book maybe having some friends over, with some music on in the background and eating chocolate together? That would be an awesome collection of simple pleasures rolled into one !! x

  • Alice Hassall March 3, 2014 at 2:06 pm

Ohhhhh I may still be in my PJ’s and have just finished playing solitaire whilst listening to Jake Bugg and catching up with facebook…. minus the Praline (which I’m allergic to) you’ve just summed up my morning. (add a poorly child, a puppy and some projectile vomit and I’d have accused you of stalking me!) πŸ™‚

  • Emmys Mummy March 3, 2014 at 3:47 pm

Great choices – I’m a PJ’s gal too and have a bath with the kids every night after dinner just so I can get them on early πŸ™‚ Any excuse – they are too comfy

  • Angie ( March 3, 2014 at 4:35 pm

  • Liz Burton March 3, 2014 at 4:41 pm

    Great choices!

Love my PJs too, although my love of my onesie may be overtaking it soon!

  • Sara ( March 3, 2014 at 5:34 pm

Great choices, although I’d have the chocolate minus the praline πŸ™‚ And, what’s more, you can combine them all into one great evening!

  • Mari March 3, 2014 at 8:35 pm

LOVE love love your answers plus you’ve prompted me to have a go at this fab Linky too.
