Create space for calmer, more creative kids and restore order and happiness at the heart of family life.
As I embarked upon my parenting journey I read book after book pregnancy, parenting and raising children. Hoping that all these books would give me all the answers to the questions I would have at each new stage. Far from arming me with the information and knowledge, they made me feel overwhelmed and not cut out to be a parent.
Since becoming a parent I have strived to do the best for my children. Fumbling my way through sleepless nights, milestones, illnesses and everything in between. Never quite sure whether I am doing things correctly or just like my school report ‘improvement is required’.
Simple Happy Parenting
Looking to ensure I’m striking the balance in my parenting skills and life I was intrigued to read the ‘Simple Happy Parenting‘ book written by Denaye Barahona Ph.D. With the opening letter to her readers striking a chord with my thoughts and worries about life as a parent. With her hopes that parents find inspiration amongst the pages rather than use the book as a parenting bible.
Full of practical tips to help you step back from the system overload so common in modern family life and, instead, create more time to enjoy living and learning together. Covering three main topic areas;
- Welcome to a simpler way – An introduction into the simple happy parenting philosophy. How changing the way you approach different areas of parenting can have a positive impact on other areas.
- Design a simple family home – Showcasing ways in which you can minimise the things you accumulate when you have children. From setting designated spaces in your home, capsule wardrobes and organisation.
- The simple approach to parenting – Sharing the ways in which you can stress less, enjoy more and encourage your children to find their own voice.
A refreshing approach to parenting which allows parents to utilise the areas they need inspiration in, Giving simple ways to be the present parent in your child’s life. Whilst some of the ideas in the book I already utilised in my parenting style, it was lovely to have this reinforced as a positive as well as gaining inspiration for other areas.
