Scooby Doo Live! The mystery of the pyramid – Theatre Royal Norwich

Roo has been a fan of Scooby Doo for what seems an eternity, endless watching re-runs of the shows after school or snuggled up in her bed enjoying one of the films for the hundredth time.  More recently Tigger has started to get in on the action and they can both be found singing and dancing the theme tune around Roo’s bedroom.

With the new Scooby Doo Live! The mystery of the pyramid UK tour just started Roo was excited to see it promoted within a magazine that she’d brought home from school.  I listened to her ‘oh, I wish we could go‘ requests with the knowledge that I did in fact have tickets (nasty Mummy).  I waited until 4pm yesterday to tell her that we were going to pop out to see Daddy at work and then head off to see Scooby Doo Live!

WHAT! WE ARE GOING TO SEE SCOOBY DOO LIVE!‘ Roo exclaimed

Yes, now get in the car

Scooby-Doo - The Mystery Of The Pyramid

The show opens with a blast of the popular Scooby Doo theme tune and some funky moves.  Please bare in mind all parents reading this that wish to attend the show, your children will expect you to sing-a-long too and once you have that song in your head it’s hard to shift.

(All together now…)

Scooby-Doo - Shaggy & Scooby

The first thing I noted about the show was just how realistic the characters sounded compared the animated shows, Shaggy especially really does sound like he has just jumped out of the TV and landed on the stage.  Alongside the songs, gags and laughter the Scooby Doo team have a job to do.

Transported to ancient Egypt they face treacherous challenges while trying to uncover the mystery of Pharaoh Hatchepsout’s pyramid.  They are joined by a host of fabulous characters and mummies.  From Shaggy falling in love to Daphne making sure that her super strength hairspray doesn’t go missing.

A Scooby Doo adventure wouldn’t be complete without a glimpse of the Mystery Machine, which we managed to see both on stage and then a spoof one in the car park afterwards.

Scooby-Doo - The Mystery Machine

Once again ‘those meddling kids’ save the day!

The show itself is the perfect family show from ‘those meddling kids’, Roo and Tigger thoroughly enjoyed the show joining in with all the ‘it’s behind you’ jollies, plus singing and dancing along to the songs.  The best part for Roo I feel has to be the option to meet the cast after the show, even waiting 30 mins to see them.

This is my local theatre. Didn’t realise this was on, though I was heavily pregnant at the time. So maybe wouldn’t of gone anyway. My daughter saw scooby doo at Butlins a few months ago and loved it. So lovely that you and Roo got to see the cast.
