REVIEW: McCain Ready Baked Jackets

November 20, 2012
I have a confession when I think of eating jacket potatoes I think of cheese and beans, not very adventurous I know. So when I was offered the opportunity to taste test one of McCain’s recipe ideas for their new McCain Ready Baked Jackets, how could I say no?

I was lucky enough to be sent all the ingredients needed to make their Sausage & Caramelized Onion McCain Ready Baked Jackets.

A plate of food with meat and vegetables
Whilst jacket potatoes are good for you at a little over 200kcal per potato I must admit that the cooking of them is usually a little hit or miss. If baked in the oven they take forever, or in the microwave I can never seem to get them soft enough. McCain have come to my rescue have made jacket potatoes not only easy to cook but soft, fluffy and tasty.

Cooking Instructions

The following cooking instructions are for 1 to 4 McCain Ready Baked Jackets. For best results cook from frozen. DO NOT overcook!

MICROWAVE
Remove from carton and place on a microwavable plate. Place in the centre of the microwave oven. Cook on full power. Allow to stand for 2 minutes before serving. Ensure potato is piping hot throughout before eating.

What Boo Roo and Tigger Too thought…

I was impressed with the simple and easy to follow cooking instructions. I opted to cook my ready baked jackets in the microwave and I wasn’t disappointed. After a few short minutes they emerged hot, soft and waiting for my filling of choice.

These are something that I will be adding to my shopping list, perfect for a quick and easy yummy meal.
