For many people, the nanny is the best option to ensure their child or children gets the highest level of support and the best chance of success in life. The simple fact is that most parents need childcare to allow them to work and support the family.

While early childcare centers are an option, it is worth looking at reputable babysitting services Sydney where you’ll find high-quality nannies waiting to help you. Although this may seem like an approach that the rich and famous take, it’s actually an affordable and practical option.

Having a nanny ensures you can get to work early, leave late when necessary, and maintain the quality of care for your child. Of course, you should always remember that the nanny is a paid assistant and you can’t just assume they’ll help out after their regular hours.

That’s why you need to work out what you want from the nanny before you choose one.

What Do You Need?

A nanny offers childcare but why do you need them? It’s important to work this out. Are you expecting them to look after your baby while you’re at work? If this is the case you need to think about feeding your baby and who is going to prepare the food. It’s also important to consider who should be washing the baby’s clothes and whether you want them to spend time educating your baby or just playing with them.

Take some time to work out what you would expect your nanny to do. This will allow you to be specific in an interview and avoid any misunderstandings after the nanny has started.

How to Figure Out What You Want from A Nanny

Full Time, Part Time & Live-In

Live-in nannies generally get paid less than those that live elsewhere. That’s because you’re providing a roof and food. Of course, there are additional costs in food and phone bills, etc. You need to consider how much your nanny needs to be at your house and whether it’s better for them to live-in or not. You may only need them part-time, to cover the days you work.

There are nannies prepared to do any of these shifts but you need to be able to advertise exactly what you need, it will save you time and them.

Contracts

If you go through an agency they’ll handle the contracts for you. If not, you’re going to need a lawyer to draw up a proper contract. This is for you and your nanny, ensuring you both know what is expected of each other. Having clear guidelines makes it easier to maintain a good relationship and prevents either party from taking advantage of the other.

Be Strict

You now know what the nanny needs to do and how often you need them at your home. The next step is to decide what you want from the nanny emotionally. You probably want someone who loves kids, experience is optional but you’ll definitely want a personality you can get along with. Knowing what you want from the nanny will allow you to be strict in selecting potential candidates. That’s important as, once hired, you’ll be spending a lot of time with them and they’ll be looking after your child.
