How Batch Cooking Can Save You Time and Money

January 12, 2020

The key to saving time and money in the kitchen is to start batch cooking. This somewhat simple method of meal planning allows families of all sizes and financial status to save the most with something we all have to do daily… cooking meals for our family! Today I’m going to tell you how this method of meal planning can save you a substantial amount of time and money.

Cook Many Things at Once

With batch cooking, you’re able to cook your entire weekly meal plan right away. This allows you to get the hard part of cooking nourishing meals for your family out of the way. It is a fabulous way to create more time to sit with your family at dinner time.

Use Ingredients More Than Once

If you select batch cooking recipes that will utilise the same ingredients more than once. This will save you both money and time as you work to whip up food using the same pot or pan more than once. You can also save more money by using extra ingredients to create your own creative recipe idea.

Save on Bulk Purchases

When you opt to start batch cooking, you’ll be able to take advantage of bulk purchasing. Many kitchen items and recipe ingredients can be purchased in bulk, thus saving you a significant amount of money. Research the best bulk deals before creating your next meal plan to save the most money.

Better Ingredients

When you opt to create a meal plan using the batch cooking method you’re committing to buy better ingredients. When you buy more natural, good for your ingredients to make meals from scratch, it’s a more affordable way to save money while eating healthier.

No Weeknight Prep

With batch cooking, you get a full meal at your fingertips without having to spend hours prepping nightly dinners in the kitchen. This lack of weeknight cooking prep allows you to have more time listening to your family talk about their day to day life.

You can easily find batch cooking meal plans and recipes online that will suit your family’s desires. The amazing thing about batch cooking is that most meal options are suitable for all taste buds, you can easily batch cook your family favourite recipes in one day, saving you time on those busy weeknights when life tends to be a little chaotic.

I really do need to get into batch cooking properly – will make life easier when I am having a ‘lazy night’ and will certainly save money too! I need to be more organised and meal plan, that would help too! Sim x

This is definitely something I need to do more of, I am quite good with the slow cooker and ensuring I use that a lot, but everything else, not so much x

My husband and I go through fits and starts with batch cooking. We’ll get really into it and do loads, and then not do any for months. We need to be more disciplined!!!
