Getting a tween’s wardrobe ready for summer

July 4, 2017

There are days when I look at Roo and wonder how it is that she is 10 years old already. With age comes personality, hormones, and sass – also known as the tween years. The warm up for the teenage years where you can just about put most of the attitude down to hormones and pressure from school. The tween years are a bit like the terrible two’s but with eye rolls, hair swishing and ‘mum you’re sooo annoying‘.

Getting a tween’s wardrobe ready for summer

This being said there are many more good days than hissy fits so the tween years aren’t all that bad. That is unless you are trying update a tween wardrobe ready for summer. Gone are the days of getting clothes out and Roo just wears them no questions asked. Nowadays her input is required on all fashion decisions. With summer here and a growth spurt under her belt, it was time to add some summer outfits to her wardrobe.

Whilst we usually head into the city to look for clothes I’d been recommended to take a look at the girls clothing select at MandM Direct. Arming Roo with a budget (always best to get this understood straight away) I set her up on the site and asked her to select a couple of things that she liked. Which we could then go through and discuss whether they were appropriate clothing for the summer (thinking she’d select party dresses and tutus).

Board Angels clothing from MandM Direct

The Board Angels range of clothing from MandM Direct caught Roo’s eye immediately. With a range of shorts, dresses, shoes, and hats you can kit out a wardrobe for less than you think. With always up to 75% off, you can’t go wrong with MandM Direct. Suddenly I realised that she was going to get much more for the budget than I had originally thought. This, however, meant that it took Roo a little long to decide just how to make full use of the budget.

In the end, she managed to get two t-shirts, two pairs of shorts, a pair of sandals plus a summer hat too – Not bad for a £35.00 budget (well £37.93 actually, but I let her off the extra).

Board Angels Dragonfly pink t-shirt and Navy Shorts

First up we have the Board Angels Dragonfly Pink T-Shirt, which a beautiful loose fit t-shirt with a scattering of dragonflies across the front to add interest. Roo has paired this with navy shorts also from the Board Angels range. These have a fleece feel lining which makes them soft and comfortable to wear, yet don’t make them too thick for a summers day.

Teamed up with a Trilby Straw Hat with a pink checked band and flower to coordinate it with her wardrobe choices (which are usually pink!)

Board Angels Navy Heart T-Shirt and Pink Board Shorts

Next up is her second outfit choice. A simple navy heart t-shirt with the Board Angels name emblazoned inside. This is more of a slim or fitted style t-shirt which I wasn’t sure if she would like, however, she hasn’t mentioned it to me so I’m assuming she is happy with it. Paired with some pink board shorts, these are a looser fit style shorts and really light so perfect for when she is out with friends or being active.

Completing the look with some white strap sandals, these allow her feet to breathe in the summer sun whilst giving her a stable platform to continue with all the fun that life throws at her.

Board Angels // What Roo loves…

For Roo the Board Angels range from MandM Direct offers the fun, practical style clothing she needs over the summer months. Whilst still allowing her to retain her sense of style, colour choices and opinion over what is hung in her wardrobe.

What I loved about the selection Roo chose was how they can all be mixed and matched together. Thinking ahead she had planned when and where she would be wearing the items so hats off to her. Plus they wash amazingly too so a big tick from me.

The Board Angels range of clothing from MandM Direct ticks all these boxes and are available at amazing prices.
