Four Gifting Principles for Teenage Girls

November 9, 2018

This is a paid partnership post with Boots

When it comes to making Christmas wishlists something that we have tried to instil with each of the children is why they are adding that item to the list. Is it something that they want, need, will wear or to read?

Separating the items into the different gifting principles helps them understand that Christmas is not just about seeing how many gifts they can find under the Christmas tree, but instead, thinking about how that present will be used after the wrapping paper has been discarded.

As the children get older it seems that present buying becomes more difficult. Finding Christmas Gifts for a teenager is especially challenging as they are changing so much at this age, with Roo posing me a challenge this year as she is on the cusp of becoming a teenager. Thankfully Boots offer a host of different Christmas gifts for her allowing me to complete a Christmas wishlist in one shop, with each of the four Christmas gifting principles covered and then some… plus their 3 for 2 offer gives great value for money.

Something they want

Distinguishing between want and need can take some doing, especially when makeup is involved. My usual argument of ‘if it is something you will use every day then it is a need’, falls short for this category. Thankfully Roo is just starting to ‘experiment’ with make-up so I’m sure I can utilise that line for at least another year. That being said, her priority this year is to expand her makeup tools selection., with her favourite girl group, Little Mix providing her with a makeup and accessories range that has suddenly expanded her ‘want’ list. The LMX By Little Mix Brush Up! Make-Up Brush Collection at the top of her list, comprising of the all-important brush selection to create the perfect look.

Something they need

Thinking about the things that we need in life can be difficult, as often when you look at the things on the list they are wanted items rather than something you need. After discovering the Soap & Glory range last Christmas via some amazing crackers, Roo has been using their skincare products. There is always an amazing range of Soap & Glory sets available at Christmas from Boots. This year the Soap & Glory She’s Show Ready! Gift Set is the needed item for Roo, a substantial gift set containing a whole host of skin care products to keep her going. An added bonus of the Thick & Fast™ High Definition *Collagen Coat™ Mascara and Sexy Mother Pucker™ will satisfy her makeup ‘need’.

Something to wear

Whilst teenage girls have sadly outgrown the range of Boots Mini Club PJ’s that would have found their way under the Christmas tree, it doesn’t mean that they miss out entirely. Travelling to and from high school, as well as get-togethers with friends means that teenagers can be outdoors more often than we think. Bulky coats are deemed not fashionable, however, a bobble hat can match almost any outfit. The Zoella Travel Mug & Bobble Hat set is the perfect winter warmer. I’m happy that she’s wearing a hat and it saves her from the ‘your body loses more heat through your head’ speech, whilst she also gets to take along a hot chocolate on the walk to school, the bus stop or her best friend’s house (that extra warmth making up for the lack of coat!).

Something to read

This seems like such an obvious category for a new book to enjoy, maybe even a series of books to be read before bed each night. However, I selected the Zoella I’ve Got A Plan Planner for Roo. Whilst authors have a beautiful way of sharing the written word, sometimes the most powerful words are the ones that we record ourselves. The teenage years can be a time when recording what happened during the day, our thoughts and feelings can be a type of therapy. This planner can be utilised to aid Roo with the organisation of her school activities, plans with friends or just recording that she heard her favourite song on the radio.

Taking advantage of the Boots 3 for 2 Christmas gifts means that you can mix and match from different ranges., whether you are looking for a teenage girl, your best friend, a family member… or just looking to see what you can add to your own Christmas wishlist (the range of Joules gift sets are amazing – just saying!)
