Next weekend marks one of the most romantic days of the year, it is of course Valentine’s Day! Now when you are dating or indeed married without children Valentine’s Day means the chance to get dressed up and head out for a lavish meal with your significant other. However once you have children Valentine’s Day becomes very different, unless you have family or friends to look after your little darlings there will be no night on tiles with the one you love.
Mr Boo and I won’t be heading out this Valentine’s Day as we don’t have a babysitter, not to be deterred I am planning on creating a special Valentine’s Day at home. From transforming the dining table into a cosy meal for two (once the kids are in bed), enjoying a delicious meal followed by snuggling on the sofa to watch a film together.
Transforming the dining table into a cosy meal for two
Wanting create a special Valentine’s Day at home I’m going to start with the dining table. By adding a few key accessories I’m hoping to transform it from family dinner to cosy meal for two.
I’ve opted to purchase some new tableware from Wilko which will hopefully make my dining table look fabulous but the accessories can be used throughout the year for either everyday use or just for special occasions.
Table Runner Red £5.00 | Heart Dip Bowls and Tray Set £4.50 | Heart Placemats Slate £6.00 2 pack| Heart Coasters Slate £3.00 4 pack | Colour Play Wine Glass Red £1.50 each | Colourplay Dinner Set Red £1.00 – £15.00
Delicious meal for two
Normally I pop to my local Marks and Spencers and grab one of their dine in for £20 meal deals, however this year I am looking to prepare a delicious meal for Mr Boo and hoping to get the kids involved in the preparation. My fellow bloggers have provided some food for thought with this tasty suggestions:
Starter: Roasted Tomato and Garlic Soup | A Mummy Too
Main: Cheesy Chicken & Bacon | The Crazy Kitchen served with Baked Sweet Potato Fries | A Mummy Too
Dessert: Ferrero Rocher Cheesecake | Mummy Mishaps
Snuggle up for a movie
Not having access to a babysitter means that Mr Boo and I have missed several films on the big screen so really need to catch up on the recent releases to Blu-Ray. One of the films we wanted to see at the cinema was Gone Girl so I’m hoping to pick this up for us to snuggle up and watch together.
How will you be celebrating Valentine’s Day?
Disclosure: I have received a set of heart placements and dip bowls and tray set FOC for the purpose of this post
