Celebrating the World Cup with Princes Hot Dogs

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few weeks you will no doubt be aware that the Football World Cup is happening over in Brazil.  Princes has discovered that the top Brazilian snack to enjoy while eating the football is a Cachorro Quente, which is a Hot Dog piled with tasty toppings. To celebrate the World Cup they have developed their own version of the recipe (below).

Ingredients
  1. 4 Princes Jumbo Hot Dogs
  2. 4 finger rolls, sliced in half
  3. 1 tbsp sunflower oil
  4. 1 red onion, sliced into rings
  5. 1 red pepper, deseeded and sliced
  6. 125g, drained and rinsed cannelloni beans
  7. 1 tbsp olive oil
  8. 2 tsp lemon juice
  9. 2 spring onions, finely chopped
  10. 1 small green chilli, de-seeded and chopped
  11. 1 clove garlic, crushed
  12. 2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
  13. 4 cherry plum tomatoes, diced
Optional toppings
  1. Potato sticks
  2. 2 – 3 jalapeno sliced peppers
  3. Mashed potato with wholegrain mustard
Instructions
  1. Heat the sunflower oil in a medium frying pan, add the sliced onion and pepper, fry over a medium heat for five minutes until the peppers are softened and browned.
  2. Make the Chilli Bean Salsa by roughly mashing the beans with a fork in a medium bowl. Stir in the olive oil, lemon juice, chilli and garlic until thoroughly combined. Gently stir in the chopped coriander, spring onions and diced tomatoes.
  3. To serve, place the Hot Dog in the roll, top with the fried onions and peppers. Generously spoon on the Chilli Bean Salsa and top it off with potato sticks and Jalapeno sliced peppers.
Notes
  1. Another favourite Brazilian topping for the Cahorro Quente is mashed potato. For an alternative to the Chilli Bean Salsa, make mashed potato and add in a couple of teaspoons of wholegrain mustard. Layer up your ultimate Hot Dog replacing the salsa with the mustard mash.

Princes have challenged the Boo Roo and Tigger Too household to throw a football themed party and create our very own Cachorro Quente.  With England an early knock out I decided to change tactics on my version of the Cachorro Quente. I opted to treat us all to a BLT Hot Dog…

What would you place on your hot dogs?

With the food sorted it’s time to organise some football themed games to keep everyone entertained…

Penalty shoot out

You don’t need to have a set of goal posts to enjoy a good old fashioned penalty shoot out, simply place wheelie bins, jumpers or even chairs approx 2m apart and voilà you have yourself a set of goals.

  • Decide whether you are taking goalkeeping duty in turns or whether just one (brave) person will stand guard.
  • Each player gets five turns and the one with the most goals wins
Keepie uppie

Hilarious to play with both children and adults

  • Challenge each person to keep the ball from touching the ground as long as possible
  • Time each person and whoever has the longest time wins

What other football theme games do you play?

Disclosure: We received football party supplies and a supermarket gift voucher FOC in order to host a children’s World Cup party
