Winchester Single Oval Back Teak Garden Bench

August 12, 2017

When I was a little girl I would visit my grandparents in the summer holidays. My granny had the most amazing garden to the front of her house. With beautiful flower beds, rose bush archway and a lawn that I could only ever dream of achieving. In front of the window was a wooden garden bench which she would sit on whilst the grandchildren played. I think this was partly to keep an eye on us, but mostly so we didn’t destroy her beautiful garden.

Living in a small village all the neighbours would be in their front gardens. Whether they were doing some gardening, watching the grandchildren play or just chatting amongst themselves. I remember those summers with such fond memories. Finally having a garden of our own, I knew that I wanted to add a garden bench in there as a place to watch the children, to read a book or just soak up the Vitamin D.

Winchester Single Oval Back Teak Garden Bench // Assembly

GardenBenches.com kindly sent over their Winchester single oval back teak garden bench for us to add to our garden. Arriving within a few days of ordering in a single large box. With assembly taking less than 30 minutes to complete, with Mr. Boo doing it by himself. The instructions were relatively easy to follow and the quality of the wooden garden bench was apparent whilst assembling.

Winchester Single Oval Back Teak Garden Bench // Thoughts…

Our garden is positioned to the side of our house rather than to the back. With a large wall to one side to deflect the road noise and protect us against the wind. When it came to placing the wooden garden bench in the garden we tried it in various places before deciding upon the middle of the garden wall. It has the best views of the garden, it becomes shaded in the afternoons and it within easy reach of the trampoline and playhouse should one of the children decide to take a tumble.

Measuring 150cm wide it is a substantial bench, made from high-quality teak – this really shows when you come to assemble the bench, with amazing attention to detail on the joints. The swooping curved back gives it more of a relaxed feel, making it somewhere that is welcoming you to sit – rather than a traditional straight backed bench that feels formal. Due to the size of the bench, we can all just squeeze on. However, as the children grow they will be slowly relegated to the garden chairs.

This looks so lovely. I used to love sitting on the bench in my grandmother’s garden and reading a book. I’ll definitely be getting one for my own garden when the boys are a little older.

Just lovely, it’s great that you have such fond memories of your childhood at your grandmothers… Hopefully your children will feel the same when they look back on their childhood Xxx

The curved back is so classic and stylish, I want one! We already have a bench that Chris had when we moved in 🙁 but now I was to replace it!

That is such an incredibly gorgeous bench! We’ve been redoing our garden and this year it’s looking really rather lovely. It needs a bench like this!

That is beautiful! We recently got a garden, but its mostly paved. My husband and I are looking into buying our own house (we live with my parents) and a garden is on the must haves! Now I want a bench! Haha.

Oh my gosh that is so perfect. I have just moved into a new house and this would be fabulous as a focal point at the front!
