Spy Gear Video Walkie Talkies

November 24, 2016

Earlier this year Roo was invited to an event with a spy theme to it. During the day she was shown how to look for clues, solve mysteries and act like a spy. Needless to say, she came home and taught Tigger all about being a spy and ever since they have been secret agents always on a mission.

One of the things that they have been crazing us for has been walkie talkies after seeing an advert on the TV. So you can imagine their delight  when SpinMaster recently got in touch regarding the Spy Gear Video Walkie Talkies.

Keep teamwork and surveillance in check as you complete missions with Spy Gear Video Walkie Talkies! Only Spy Gear has the spy technology to let you stay in constant 2-way, visual and audio communication.

The Spy Gear Video Walkie Talkies set comes complete with two video walkie talkies, one with silver buttons and one with red buttons (just so they can remember whose is whose). Along with the instruction leaflet, which we found wasn’t needed as it was just a simple case of removing from the packaging. Adding batteries (3x AAA batteries required in each handset), switching on and then holding the mode button (bottom of the three buttons) to sync the video walkie talkies and off you go.

As soon as they were handed the Spy Gear Video Walkie Talkies set they were off, searching for the best places to hide within the house and then getting the other person to try to work out where they had hidden. The range on the walkie talkies goes up to 160ft which is adequate within the house and garden.

The video camera is of good quality and the children have been able to get a good crisp image of themselves to display on the screen. Although I’ve had to remind Tigger that he needs to make sure that he can see himself in the top square, otherwise Roo is just looking at his shoulder etc. With a compact fold, these have been great to pop in our bags when we have been out at the park etc so that they can complete spy missions wherever they might be.

Whilst I think that the children would have loved traditional walkie-talkies I do think that now we have the video version it really does add to the play element. They have been able to have so much more fun hiding one of the video walkie talkies on a bookshelf etc and getting the other to find it just by working out what the video camera is showing them.

The Spy Gear Video Walkie Talkies are priced at £59.99 and are available from Amazon and all other good toy retailers.

Disclosure: We received the Spy Gear Video Walkie Talkies FOC for the purpose of review
