Santa shouldn’t get all the glory

December 5, 2015

Something that we started to instil in Roo a couple of years ago was that she could ask Santa for one or two presents and he would try to bring what she had asked for. She could also make another list of things that she would like which Mummy and Daddy as well as family and friends might buy her for Christmas.

You see we wanted to allow her the freedom of choosing what she waned for Christmas (within reason) however let her understand that Santa doesn’t bring all the presents and that parents, family and friends all work hard to buy presents too.

Tigger is now at the age when we are explaining this to him. After all Santa shouldn’t get all the glory when each year entire families try to make Christmas as special as possible for children and their loved ones often saving all year to buy gifts and treats.

Santa shouldn't get all the glory

Do you let Santa take all the glory or do your children know that you and family buy some of the presents under the Christmas tree?

I tell my children that mummy and daddy have to send money to santa to help pay the elves and buy the materials to make their presents

Oh yes, I agree, Father Christmas brings a stocking of presents but the big present comes from Mum and Dad and others from relatives. I’d find it strange to tell the children that Father Christmas had brought presents that had been given to them by other people, because then they wouldn’t be able to thank them properly.

Totally agree. Our daughter gets one or two specially written presents from the big man but the rest are from family.

Ah, totally agree! Santa gives a little stocking but all the other stuff comes from named family members!
