Rex London | Magnetic Let’s Go Fishing Game

October 26, 2019

This is a gifted partnership

This beautifully illustrated magnetic fishing game is a great way for little ones to improve their motor skills, learn to recognise their numbers and count from one to ten.

When it comes to games for children, it can be easy to think that you need to buy the latest all-singing, all-dancing board game in order to have fun. However, often it the more traditional games that get the children (and adults) interested and competing against each other. The games that we can remember from our own childhoods such as beetle drive, card games and magnetic let’s go fishing.

These games can offer the fun and laughter that you might get with a newer named game, however, these are the ones that will be pulled out of the cupboard for family games night time and time again.

Magnetic Let’s Go Fishing Game

  • 1 x fish 10 x 5 cm,
  • 1 x fish 6 x 6 cm,
  • 8 x fish 6 x 4 cm,
  • 2 x wooden magnetic fishing rods
  • Illustrated box

The idea behind the game is a simple one, cast your fishing rods and go fishing. Seeing which of the fish you land and hopefully leading to you gaining a higher number than your opponent. You can spice things up a little and set a timer to see who can land all ten fish in the quickest time.

Alongside the fun of landing the fish, it also helps smaller children with number recognition and counting – A great way to learn through play.

Our thoughts of the Magnetic Let’s Go Fishing Game

For years we have visited our local Time & Tide Museum which houses a larger version of let’s go fishing. Something that the children all head towards whenever we visit. So when I saw this game on the Rex London website, I knew that this would be a hit with them – and it hasn’t disappointed. The simple nature of the game means that they can play it on their own or together.

With Piglet just starting preschool, this is really useful for her to recognise her numbers, although I think I would have preferred the fish to have dots or little fish symbols that could be counted rather than the word printed next to the number.
