Dressing a little girl for the summer

March 27, 2017

There is something quite different about clothes shopping for boys and girls. Depending on where you shop boys especially can get a rough deal. With shorts, jeans and tops to choose from, whereas girls have a much wider selection. Having a larger selection, however, doesn’t always make it easier and it can be quite daunting looking through rows and rows of outfit choices before you find the right thing for your little girl.

Dressing a little girl for the summer

With Spring underway it is only a matter of weeks before the warmer days take hold and we are able to make the most of the outdoors. So now is the time to start planning your little girl’s summer wardrobe and what style of dresses you might want to add.

Newborn baby girl dresses

Let’s be honest is there anything cuter than seeing a tiny baby all dressed up. Whilst the days of frills, lace and ribbon have passed (thankfully), there is a great selection of newborn baby girl dresses available. Whether you are looking for something special to attend a wedding, christening or family event. Or just on the look out for a lightweight summer dress with matching knickers (these are an absolute must!), that will help keep baby cool in the summer sun.

Pairing the dresses with coordinating cardigans for when they are in the shade or the sun is hiding behind the clouds will ensure that they still look adorable. Try to look for a mixture of colours and patterns to add that extra element of interest, although you know that everyone will just be looking at how cute they look.

Little girls dresses

Depending on the temperament of your little girl your selection of little girls dresses might be limited to ones that are practical, funky and can be worn with a pair of shorts underneath. Or if you have a girlie girl who thinks that a dress should be worn everyday then you will have a whole host of options available to you.

Whilst pretty tulle dresses complete with sparkles look adorable they are best kept for parties, events, and family get-togethers. You want your little girl to still be able to run through the park, slide down the slide and ride her bike. Selecting something with a pattern or a fun slogan on the front will add the detailing that she likes whilst you are able to select something more practical (and washes easily).
