The cultural value of jewellery

May 18, 2016

Have you ever thought about the cultural value of your jewellery sitting in your jewellery box? Whenever I open mine I fondly remember when I bought or was given each piece but never thought about whether my diamond earrings and necklace set that Mr Boo bought for me on our wedding day holds a more significant meaning than the one of love that Mr Boo meant when he gave it to me.

Did you know that giving a watch or clock in China represents running out of time and sounds the same as ‘attending a funeral ritual’?

It’s also believed that Ancient Egyptians started the ritual of the wedding ring on the ring finger as they believed a vein connected the finger to the heart.
