I’m not quite sure if it is my northern roots or the fact that I am British but I do love a good pie (cue the chants of ‘who ate all the pies?‘).
Higgidy believe there is nothing better than homemade, which is why they bake their pies in small batches, fill them with ingredients just like you would use in your kitchen at home and finish every one by hand. Their latest addition to the range is the Hand Pulled Pork & Sweet Potato Pie, which is filled with British pulled pork in a rich smoky tomato sauce and is topped with a heap of roasted sweet potato mash.
This pie was the winning pie from the Higgidy Recipe Hunt where we asked people to submit their own pie recipe for the chance for it to be made into a Higgidy pie and stocked on shelves. This pie was a creation of blogger White Lily Green!
I can remember my Mum making pies when I was little and personally loved her steak and kidney pie with delicious puff pastry on the top… yum, yum.
To help you celebrate British Pie Week this year, West Sussex based piemakers Higgidy are giving away some exciting prizes to help you make delicious pies in your very own kitchen.
All you need to do is leave a comment below telling what your favourite pie filling is for a chance to win a copy of The Higgidy Cookbook, featuring 100 recipes for pies and more, and a Higgidy apron. What better excuse is there to cook up a storm in the kitchen and impress your friends and family with your pie baking skills? And, in case you don’t feel like cooking, there is also four Higgidy vouchers, so you can pick up some of their delicious pies from the supermarket to enjoy at home.
Disclosure: We received a selection of Higgidy pies FOC to celebrate British Pie Week.
