As a teenager, I spent many happy hours reading books that I’d borrowed from the library. I’d be forever reserving ones from other libraries and getting them sent over so I could complete a series. Sadly I don’t read as much as I once did, however, it seems that Roo has taken over my love for books.
Whenever we go into the city she requests to visit Waterstone, WHSmiths and anywhere that sells books. Looking for new releases or books on sale so that she can spend her pocket money wisely. For her birthday she received two Jacqueline Wilson books that she’d been looking at since their release earlier in the year.
As we approach Christmas, books once again make their way one to her wish list. Opting for her favourite authors, although I would like to increase her reading selection. The Penguin Flipper gift idea tool has helped me find some new book ideas to pop under the tree for her.
The Penguin Flipper selector is so easy and simple to use. Simply select the age group of the recipient, what genre of books they enjoy and it will show you a great selection of suggested books.
For Roo, it suggested that the new Tom Fletcher, The Christmasaurus book. Which is one that she spotted in Waterstones recently and remembered that Tom Fletcher had wrote the dinosaur books that Tigger enjoys. This looks like a more grown up version and something I think that she would enjoy.
For Tigger, The Jolly Christmas Postman popped up. Knowing Tigger’s love of Christmas I’m sure that he would enjoy this book, especially the interactive element to it.
For Piglet, the classic Rod Campbell, Dear Zoo book was suggested. This was a favourite of Roo and Tigger when they were younger. I’m sure that Piglet would love the different animals and lift up flaps.
Not wanting to miss out and in an attempt to rediscover my love of reading I added my details. I love that it knew of my love of Jane Austen and suggested the classic Jane Austen novels audiobook (sensing my lack of time to sit and read a book).
Will you be buying books as gifts this Christmas? if so, then be sure to pop over and try out the Penguin Flipper.
Disclosure: I was not asked to write about the Penguin Flipper tool,
I’m just sharing a useful gift selector
