We have an old CD of Dr Demento’s Greatest Christmas Novelty Songs which we listen to each year. It contains funny Christmas songs like “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”, and humorous versions of old Christmas standards, such as “I saw Daddy kissing Santa Claus” and “Jingle Bells” by the singing dogs. My personal favourite is a great version of the “12 Days of Christmas” by Allan Sherman, where the poor recipient gets a load of terrible gifts. Even though I’ve heard it dozens of times, I still find it hilarious.
