Fireman Sam Essential Summer Safety Collection

Moving to a house with a garden means that this summer we are going to make the most of it. We are gong to be that family who is in their garden from sunrise to sunset.

Whilst the kids will be hopefully enjoying games of football, building dens and splashing around in the paddling pool. Mr Boo and I will be cooking up a storm on the BBQ and inviting family and friends over for long summer afternoons of food, chatter and fun.

Safety is always important no matter what you are doing but with the start of Child Safety Week the importance of summer activities are highlighted. To help raise awareness Fireman Sam has created a list of top ten summer safety tips…

Fireman Sam’s Top Ten Summer Safety Tips

1. Always walk when you are near a swimming pool, never run.
2. Never push anyone into a swimming pool.
3. If you are swimming in the sea, never turn your back to the sea – this will prevent you from seeing big waves coming towards you.
4. Take care when paddling and swimming in the sea as the water can get deep very quickly.
5. Always ensure you have a responsible adult with you when paddling and swimming in the sea.
6. Always leave lighting a barbecue to a responsible adult.
7. Ensure you keep your barbecue a safe distance from trees, bushes and anything else that may catch fire before lighting it.
8. Make sure that your barbecue is placed on a flat surface so it stays in place once it’s lit.
9. Always stand back from a barbecue and keep a safe distance whilst it is in use.
10. Stand back from the edge of the platform at the railway station and never push anyone whilst on the platform.
