Oh, August where have you gone? Our days filled with fun, sun (for the most part) and adventures. We’re all completely shattered and craving routine but it’s been a blast. The children have played, laughed and cried – it’s never all plain sailing. Thankfully nothing too major just standard family life.
After feeling out of sync with everything during July I wanted to step back and take time out from it all. This month I have switched off more than I have done before. Ignoring my inbox, not getting involved with things that will bring me anxiety or drama. Focusing on family, time with the children and enjoying time together. It was just what the doctor ordered – sun, fun and ice cream.
Three years after opening that final payslip I’m a fully fledge work at home mum. Fortunate to have been able to make my blog which I started eight years ago into something that enables me to stay at home and work around the children. But is it still working for me? for my family? am I making a difference?
Eight years ago to the day, I sat on the sofa with my laptop and decided to start a blog. After spending many hours reading blogs over the course of my maternity leave with Tigger. Many of which were stay at home mums, who shared what life was like at home with a baby/toddler. As I was about to return to work following maternity, I thought it might be a good time to share what life as a working mum was like.
Well, that was a busy old month. To be fair July always is in our family, despite only having one birthday to celebrate. It’s filled with end of school year preparations, activities and the mad dash to get as much work completed before the children are home.
The month of July always seems to be a busy month. Between the end of the school year and all the activities that go with that, preparation for the pending summer holidays and the fun of attending Christmas in July events as part of my research for Christmas features and collaborations for my blog,
With the summer holidays less than 24 hours away, I thought it might be nice to sit down and ponder about the days and weeks ahead. How we will fill them with activities, playdates and adventures. Although we don’t have any grand plans, especially for not for heading to foreign shores. We will be making the most of what we have locally and across the UK.
June feels as though it was a busy month for all of us. With the family calendar hosting what feels like something every day. A mixture of work, school and everyday life squeezed alongside family adventures. Father’s Day was a wonderful chance to celebrate What The Dad Said. Although the children picked the activities so might not have been his first choice. But he was just happy to be surrounded by his children.
It’s been a funny old month, which as I approach the end of it I can’t help feeling as though I haven’t achieved very much. My to do list looks just as long as it did as I flipped the calendar round to June – to be honest I think it’s looking even longer (sob). I need to get my act together though as it’s now the countdown to the summer holidays.
Another month has gone in the blink of an eye. I find it quite sad when I think about how quickly the days are passing. Questioning whether we are making the most of every day or simply counting down until bedtime, or the next event on the family calendar.
