What Type Of Mum Are You?

January 18, 2018

Whilst I was pregnant with my first child, a colleague and friend of mine was also pregnant with her first child. Due six weeks before me, we would often chat about our pregnancies, our plans for maternity leave and how many other children we hoped to have in the future. Whilst it was lovely to have someone going through a similar experience to myself. At the same time, it was very daunting as she was always telling me about baby classes to book, things I would need etc. Quite frankly it was all a little overwhelming.

After having a chat one day another colleague noticed that I looked a little overwhelmed by it all. An older lady who was known for her straightforward approach to things. She looked at me and said ‘being a parent is hard work, you need to go into it thinking this way and you won’t be disappointed. She might think that she will attend all these classes etc. but she’ll be lucky to be dressed by lunchtime’. At the time I laughed but those words have stuck with me. Being a mum is hard work, it is challenging, it is exhausting – but it is also rewarding, just not the walk in the park that some portray it as.

What Type Of Mum Are You?

This week I was contacted by Sunlife to ask me an important question, what type of mum are you? They have created a fun What Type Of Mum Are You? quiz and wanted me to answer the simple multichoice questions. Depending on the option you choose it will determine what type of mum you are and I’ll be honest mine was completely accurate.

I’m a Lion Mum!

And those who know me will be smiling and nodding their heads at this right now (and possibly chuckling too!)

I quite like the sound of being a Lion Mum. Although I usually class myself as a strict mum, something that I’m not going to apologise for. I’m a firm believer in that my children will be adults someday. They need to not only be prepared for the world around them but the responsibilities this brings. As well as the personality qualities that will enable to get on better in life – manners cost nothing and being considerate of others are two very important qualities.

So I’ll leave you with one important question…
