Where to find Wellington Bowl

Let’s start with the basics, because if you don’t know where to find Wellington Bowl how are you going to go there?

Located to the south end of Great Yarmouth seafront is Wellington Pier next to the iconic Winter Gardens (currently going through a National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported restoration scheme led by Great Yarmouth Borough Council – take a look at the current plans).

  • Parking – Pay and display on-street parking and car parks are available throughout the seafront
  • Public transport – A coastal clipper serves the Great Yarmouth Seafront travelling from nearby Hemsby Beach, stopping along the way and ending at the Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach
  • Alternative transport – A motorised train runs up and down the seafront, stopping at various attractions along the way. It can be a great way to get from one end of the seafront to the other as well as being able to take in the sights. Horse carriages are also available and can make a novel way to travel up the seafront in style.

Time to bowl!

Included in the price of the bowling is shoe hire and bowling shoes are required to be worn when playing a game. They do tend to feel quite large, so you may benefit from selecting a smaller size than your usual shoe size. Once you have collected your shoes from the reception you’ll be allocated one of their state of the art lanes featuring the most modern tenpin bowling. The host will take the party’s names so that they can be entered into the system and shown on the scoreboard located above your allocated bowling lane. You are also able to request for the friendly bumper bars to be added to individual players (not just for kids!).

Each of the ten bowling lanes comes complete with its own seating area for your party, a shared table between two lanes for drinks and snacks. Once you have popped on your bowling shoes, it is time to select the correct size bowling ball for you, a selection of these are available behind the bowling lanes seating. These are then placed on the fully automated Brunswick ready for when it is your turn. As well as returning your ball after you have taken your first shot.

Original Art

Whilst trips to bowling centers don’t necessarily trigger the idea that you’ll be treated to original art, however, the Wellington Bowl has a statement of classic high style with a stained glass window. Visible from the outside it is easy to dismiss this just simply part of the design of the building, however, when you are inside and look to the rear of the bowling alleys you are treated to the beautiful original art in its full glory.

Bar Lounge

The rear of the ocean view bar lounge includes a range of seating options for you to sit and catch up with friends and family. Whether you are taking advantage of the fresh food, fresh juice and other drink and snack options available or simply wanting to take in views of the beach whilst you wait for your bowling lanes to become available. Further table and chairs are available outside on the extensive decking area of Wellington Pier.

American Pool Tables

Located at the rear of the games room are the full-size American Pool tables. These are coin-operated and are on a first come, first served basis with the cues and balls available. The area boasts amazing sea views that can be enjoyed whilst you are playing a game.

Games Room

  • Interactive Arcade Games – the latest multi player interactive arcade games such as Buck Hunter, The Fast and the Furious, Batman and more.
  • Full Size Air Hockey Table – a coin-operated air hockey table, a two-player interactive game to see who can utilise their knowledge of angles to get the disc into their opponent’s goal.
  • Slot Machines – a collection of traditional slot machines as well as a host of toy grab machines are available.
  • 2 p Machines – would it be an amusement arcade without a 2p machine or two?
