As a family, we like to mix up our family adventures. Between theme parks, animal parks and more educational (yet fun) trips. Warwick Castle is a happy blend of education and fun for all the family. We visited a couple of years ago when I was pregnant with Piglet so it was lovely to plan another trip over as a complete family.
In typical British fashion, the weather was slightly against us with the rain starting as we got about an hour away. Not to be put off we donned our Joules coats and we were right as rain. After all, there is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing (or so the saying goes). Heading into Warwick Castle we slowly began to recall the areas that we had managed to explore previously and the children were soon pointing out the new areas that we needed to visit.

Horrible Histories Maze
With Roo and Tigger big fans of both the Horrible Histories books (which are currently given as a reward for school certificates) and the TV series. They were keen to head off into the Horrible Histories Maze as we first made our way into the grounds of Warwick Castle. As a family, we don’t seem to manage mazes very well (we are still not able to talk about the Maize Maze we visited at Halloween). However, somehow we managed to make our way around without too many issues. The fun activities and quizzes kept us going.
Time Tower
Having visited the Time Tower on our previous trip to Warwick Castle I was keen to visit again. Taking a journey through the history of Warwick Castle it is one of those must-do activities whenever you visit.
Towers & Ramparts
You can’t visit a castle without exploring the different towers and ramparts. Warwick Castle has spent over 6 million pounds in the last ten years in order for the preservation and restoration of the castle. We opted to give Guy’s Tower a miss this time as I’m not sure I could manage all those stairs again, plus we had Piglet with us so she was a good excuse not to attempt it again.
The Castle Dungeon
Over the summer Roo convinced me to visit the London Dungeons. Honestly, I jumped more than she did as we walked around. Unfortunately, with Piglet and Tigger with us on this trip to Warwick Castle, we didn’t manage to visit the Castle Dungeons – but it’s a great excuse for us to revisit next year.
We just seemed to scratch the surface in terms of things to do at Warwick Castle. Sadly time and the weather wasn’t on our side, so we opted to pop a pin our adventure and plan for another trip early next year.
