Over the past few months I have shared a couple of posts about the Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour, and if I’m completely honest I longing for the day that they will come and visit Great Yarmouth. I love the idea of children getting to meet the author behind some of their favourite books. To listen to how they started writing, how they gain inspiration and most importantly listening to them read one of their stories.
This year I have been focusing more on giving Roo and Tigger more opportunities when it comes to books and reading. Alongside making regular visits to our local library to borrow books and take part in activities I have also been actively looking for them to meet different authors when they have visited locally. So far Roo has met her favourite author Jacqueline Wilson and Tigger has found a new love in Sophy Henn‘s books.
Vivian French joins the Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour
Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour (organised by Scottish Book Trust) takes the very best UK and international authors directly into schools across Scotland and the UK to inspire a love of reading, writing and illustration.
In February the Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour visited schools in Birmingham with the wonderful author, illustrator, playwright and poet Vivian French!
Vivian has published over 200 books for children of all ages including the hugely successful series The Tales from the Five Kingdoms, the first of which, The Robe of Skulls, won the 2008 Stockton Children’s Book of the Year Award.
Take a look at the video below from Vivian French explaining how to tell a great story…
