So, you’ve started your blog as a part-time venture to share your stories with others and now that’s gaining some traction, you are wondering if you could ever do this as a full-time job. The answer is yes! There are many ways to earn money with your blog and make it your full-time job or just a part-time job that gives you some extra money at the end of the month.
1. Affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways to monetise a blog and is one of the best ways to earn passive income. As this article on Medium mentions, there are various affiliate programmes available where companies that have products that they “would like you to promote on your blog, and pay you every sale conversion they get from your visitors.” Plus, you can recommend products that you already love – win, win!
2. Google AdSense
Google AdSense is another easy way to make money from your blog. The only thing you need to do is to add a code into your website and ads will start appearing on your blog. You’ll get paid every time someone clicks on the ads. One of the good things about AdSense is that the ads that appear will be relevant to your content and audience, and if you are not happy with an ad, you can easily block it.
3. Create your own products
Now that you’ve gained a regular audience, why not sell your branded physical products? This article on Forbes states that this is how many successful bloggers earn most of their income, “through sales of online courses, books, training programs, coaching packages, software tools or otherwise.”
Ad Lab Magento agency in London recommends creating a separate eCommerce store to sell your products. This can be done through WooCommerce or Magento, depending on the number of products you are thinking of selling. Both are great platforms to sell your products, however, both have their pros and cons.
Bloggers with a big audience will have companies get in touch with you to create content about their brand or product. Bloggers can make sponsored posts, videos, photos, social media posts and much more. If you have a small audience, you can still do sponsored posts but will have to do a little bit more leg work to get sponsored. For instance, you can pitch to brands your ideas or you can join influencer networks, where sponsor jobs are available.
5. Offer your own services
Once you’re confident with your writing and blogging techniques, you can add a “hire me” page on your blog and start looking for people to work with. You could offer writing services, social media services, photography services and more, plus you can show your blog as the work you’ve published so far.
