Teacup House, The Greatest Showman, and Forest Adventures #LittleLoves

February 17, 2018

The first half term of the year is almost over. We’ve adopted a slower pace of life this week which has done us all the world of good – although Tigger is looking rather peaky. A mix of essential tasks such as new brakes for my car and a family trip to the dentist. Alongside local trips into the city, the forest and SEA LIFE Centre.

This week’s #LittleLoves…

Read

Roo and I kicked started the half term with an evening trip to our local Waterstones. Meeting up with friends we were there to meet a local authority, Hayley Scott. Listening to her read the first chapter of her new book Meet The Twitches, the first book in the Teacup House series. The story is a beautiful one and we can’t wait to see what follows in the next books. Hayley was kind enough to sign copies of the book, and we grabbed an extra copy for the school too.

Watched

With some girly time together in the city whilst my car was in the garage, Roo and I squeezed in a trip to the cinema. After seeing so many glowing reviews of The Greatest Showman we opted to see this before getting lunch. Such an emotional film, which given that both Roo and I regularly sob along to TV programmes and films we really should have taken tissues.

Heard

Whilst Mr Boo and Roo were partaking in the tree top adventure at Go Ape this week, it gave Tigger and I the chance to complete the Highway Rat trail. Whilst walking around it was lovely to chat to him and listen to his thoughts on the world. He’s such a cheeky character and takes in so much information ready to recite it at random times.

The half term wouldn’t be half term without a baking session with Roo in the kitchen. This time we made a few sweet recipes from her Jacqueline Wilson magazines. Alongside a fab one-pot fruit buns recipe from the Top Bananas! recipe book compiled with Mumsnetters family favourite recipes.

Wore

Although I still buy a large portion of Roo’s clothing, she does like to purchase the odd item herself. Which if it’s not a necessity I do make her pay for out of her own money. A recent trip to New Look resulted in two new hoodies which were on offer. These will be great for laying as weather allows her to go out with her friends more.

Lastly

We had a quiet Valentine’s Day evening at home. Enjoying an M&S meal deal and a film together. There is a big part of me that would love to be able to head off into the city just the two of us but we don’t have the childcare available for that. So, for now, we make the time to switch off from the world and snuggle to watch a film on the sofa together.
