Star of the Week

January 31, 2015

Dear Roo

Arriving home on Wednesday after being in London all day I was greeted by a letter from your school that had been popped in the post. I have to confess that looking at it my mind immediately thought ‘what has she done?‘ even though I know what a good girl you are (especially at school). Opening that envelope I found that you had been selected as Star of the Week by your class teacher Mr W. Not only had you been selected by Mr W but you were also going to be PE Star of the Week as selected by your beloved Mrs B.

The two letters asked me to keep it a secret until you were told in assembly on Friday which I was invited to attend. Fast forward to Friday morning and I was attempting to keep everything as normal as possible, with ice on the ground I used this as an excuse to take you right into school instead of leaving you at the school gates.

With the school bell ringing you headed off to your classroom whilst I sneaked into the hall waiting for assembly to start. As all the classes start to file into the hall I spot you coming in with your class, however you don’t look to the back of the hall where all the parents are sitting. It isn’t for a few more minutes that you glance back and see me sitting there. I think that you realise that you must be getting something in assembly but I don’t think you’d worked out that you were getting two awards.

As each class teacher announces their Star of the Week for their class I begin to get nervous for you. Then suddenly Mr W starts to talk about how he hasn’t chosen someone who has improved greatly over the past week or someone who has tried a little bit harder, as the person he has chosen always gives 100%, she is always helping others, considering others feelings and does constantly excellent work…

This week I have chosen Roo!

My heart melts and I’m beaming with pride for my darling little girl. You stand at the front of the hall with a big grin on your face, proud as ever. Then Mrs B is asked who is PE Star of the Week, and she explains that her chosen pupil is already standing up… Roo! Mrs B explains that you have started two new after school clubs, hockey and football. Always helping with equipment, encouraging others and giving her all in everything she does – a true asset to after school clubs. Once again I am so very proud of you that I shed a little tear.

A close up of a chip

My darling little girl, I couldn’t be prouder of you if I tried.

Love you Mummy xox
