REVIEW: Sevilla Tranquility Pink Blackout Roller Blind

June 21, 2013

Roo’s bedroom window faces west and when it is time for bed, especially in the summer it can be difficult to get her room dark enough for her to go to sleep in. With the recent renovation work completed we took down her old roller blind and started to look for what we could replace it with.

If I’m honest there was nothing wrong with the old blind it was however an off the shelf blind that was too small for her window so a good inch or so of sunlight would stream into her room from either side. So when blinds-2go.co.uk offered me the opportunity to review their website and ordering service I happily accepted.

Sample Ordering

I have never ordered blinds over the internet before and was a little worried that I would opt for the wrong colour as what you see on screen and then reality can differ somewhat. So I was pleased to see that they offer a free sample delivery service.

Having decided what style of blind I wanted, choosing a colour was proving more difficult… Do I opt for something similar to the wall colour or get something to contrast?? This is where the sample ordering service really helped, whilst I loved the Sevilla Sorbet and Sevilla Lilac I opted for the Sevilla Tranquility Pink as it matched Roo’s wall colour perfectly.

Recess or exact fitting?

Confused? I was, luckily they explain the different on the site. As Roo has quite a deep window I decided that a recess fitting would be better, plus then her curtains would be able to lay flat against the wall. Following the handy measuring guide I measured the window in several different places to ensure I got the most accurate ones.

Ordering

Ordering is so simple, enter your measurements, decided whether you’d like  left or right hand controls and add to shopping basket. Orders over £149 receive free delivery otherwise you’ll be charged their standard  £6.95 delivery charge.

Installation

I like to think that I am relatively handy when it comes to DIY so when the blind arrived I was keen to put it up myself rather than wait for Mr Boo to do on his day off. After unpacking the blind I wondered where the instructions where and it was then that I spotted a large sticker on the box informing me that I could access the roller blind installation instructions via the website. Whilst this may save on paper it may not always be practical to access a webpage to check on fitting.

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

I’ll be honest and I did have a little sigh of relief that my measurements were correct, but honestly the difference between a blind that kinda fits and one that was made to fit is unbelievable. I surprised at just much light it blocks out and makes Roo’s bedroom so much easier for her to get to sleep on an evening. The fitting was straightforward although I do think that they need to include a paper copy in the pack rather than rely on people checking online. Being able to order samples really helps you gauge both the colour and the  fabric choice before you place your order.
