REVIEW: BEAR Paws

July 11, 2013
A bunch of stuffed animals

There’s something new from the BEAR family, introducing the BEAR Paws. A 100% pure fruit snack with no added sugar or any other nonsense.

There are three delicious recipes to chose from, each taking a special theme and containing five different animal paw prints.

Safari – Orange & Strawberry: Gracie the giraffe, Laurie the lion, Zac the zebra, Ella the elephant and Hector the hippo

Dino – Strawberry & Apple: Tom the t-rex, Dom the diplidicus, Tilly the triceraptops, Ted the pterodactyl and Vince the velociraptor

Jungle – Apple & Blackcurrant: Monthy the monkey, Timmy the tree-frog, Colin the crocodile, Tallulah the toucan and Jessie the jaguar

The lovely cubs over at BEAR kindly asked whether we would like to taste test their new range and within a few days a special parcel had arrived. Along with a packet of each of the new BEAR Paws was six fabulous fun finger puppets, which Tigger claimed as his own immediately (please keep an eye out for my ‘How To Make‘ posts)

Each of the three flavours available come packaged in handy colourful bags, perfect for popping in lunch boxes, your changing bag or even in your glove box for on the road treats.

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

Anything that adds another 1 of my children’s 5 a day gets my vote. The fact that they are made from gently baked fruit picked in season, never from concentrate, and contain no added sugar, preservatives or stabilisers gets another vote from me. As a busy mum I do admit to not reading every food label that I give to my children but at least with BEAR I know that they provide goodness and I need not fear about finding hidden nasties.

The fruity paws are moist to the touch and a great size for little fingers to pick up and enjoy. Sadly Tigger was not keen on trying them but as he is a fussy eater I expect over time he will gradually learn to try more foods. Roo on the other hand was drawn in my the colourful bags and little animal pictures. The moist paws are slightly chewy but packed full of flavour, a real fruity flavour. Roo preferred the Jungle (Apple & Blackcurrant) bag as she is not keen on oranges and strawberries. Personally I was secretly pleased that I managed to get two of the three bags to enjoy for myself (greedy mummy).

At just 54kcals per bag they are great lunch box idea or afternoon treat.

Available in Sainsburys and online direct from BEAR, a 20g bag is RRP 55p or multipacks of 18 x 20g are just £9.90.
