REVIEW: BEAR Alphabites Cereal

September 23, 2013

Regular readers of Boo Roo and Tigger Too will know how much we love BEAR, whether it is munching on BEAR yoyos or BEAR paws; or even collecting their collectors cards. So when we were offered the choice to taste test their latest addition to the BEAR family, Alphabites cereal we of course said yes please.

The one thing that is different about BEAR is that instead of sending out a boring box with the Alphabites hidden inside they decided to add that personal touch. Now it doesn’t take much to make someone smile and boy did we smile when we opened our delivery to find this…

Roo and Tigger

Alongside the two Alphabites cereal boxes they had spelt our name out in letters on the lid and included a fabulous space craft activity for Roo and Tigger to entertain them (more about that coming soon).

Anyway back to the cereal… Available in two tasty recipes, Multigrain and Cocoa Multigrain the cereal itself is made up of crunchy letters from the alphabet.

‘We created Alphabites because we wanted to span the divide between Mums’ desire to give their kids a healthy start to the day, and a product that kids would really want’

‘You’re going to struggle to find a better breakfast for any child than good old bowl of porridge, but the reality is that they don’t always see it that way. We wanted to create a solution to this that would tick both boxes.’

explains Hayley Gait-Golding, BEAR’s Founder.

The boxes are not just plain boxes of cereal either, each pack takes kids on a particular themed adventures focused around a letter found in the cereal. For example, S is for Space, P is for Pirates, I is for Insects etc. There are currently 8 different themed packs available with the remaining 18 BEAR letters introducing their themes over he next 12 months.

Price and availability

£2.69, currently available in Waitrose, Ocado, Wholefoods, Holland & Barrett, Planet Organic and many leading independent stores.

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

As a mum anything that is healthy that I can convince my children to eat is a bonus for me. So when Roo asked me for a bowl of chocolatey shapes I grabbed the opportunity to substitute it will the Multigrain Cocoa Alphabites. Roo started to munch, looked up at me and asked if these were different to the other ones. Feeling I had been rumbled I said yes, ‘good, I like these ones better’ she replied. I don’t think I could have hoped for a better reaction than that.
