Orchard Toys – Robot Run {Review}

September 1, 2015

A drawing of a cartoon characterYou might have noticed a new edition to the Boo Roo and Tigger Too sidebar, we have been selected as an Orchard Toys Official Tester!

I was first introduced to Orchard Toys when Roo started pre-school, attending one of the stay and play sessions she lead me over to the shelves where all the different games were stored and I was faced with a whole selection of different Orchard Toys games.

That morning we played Ten Green Bottles and Post Box, immediately I could see why the pre-school had so many different ones to choose from. The quality of the games, the pieces and the ease of play for little ones was fabulous.

Now that we are an Orchard Toys Official Tester we have been given our first assignment which is the Robot Run game, one of their latest editions to the Orchard Toys range.

Robot Run

Match the robot or colour in this addictive card game for the whole family. Who will be the first to play all their robots in this exciting game?

Contents:

  • 41 picture cards
  • 1 instruction leaflet

Suitable for ages 3+ years and for 2-4 players

How to play:

  1. Shuffle the picture cards and deal 5 cards to each player
  2. Each player then places their cards face up in front of them
  3. The remaining cards are placed in a pile in the centre with the top card placed face up next to the pile
  4. The youngest player then takes a look at their cards to see if they can match the robot type or colour with one of their cards – if they can’t then they take an additional card from the top of the pile and places it face up next to their cards
  5. Continue in a clockwise direction until one player has matched all their robot cards

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

Our Robot Run game arrived whilst Tigger was at his Granny’s house so I had it eagerly waiting on the side for when he got home. As soon as he spotted it sitting there he wanted to open it up and play it. After reading the instructions to Roo and Tigger they say down and happily played a couple of rounds of the game (best of three).

One of the great things about Orchard Toys games and puzzles is that the boxes really make them inviting to little ones, ensuring that they are eye-catching colours and fun designs. As a parent I personally love the quality of the games and puzzles, the Robot Run for example contains 41 picture cards but instead of making them rectangular they have made them quadrilateral adding that little something extra to the cards. The cards themselves are made of thick, rigid card that has bee laminated on both sides ensuring that they are as durable as possible for little (sticky) hands.

Overall Tigger loved the game and we have all enjoyed sitting down and enjoying some family time playing the game together. We have also removed the rainbow card and played snap as well as pairs with the cards which adds that extra level of interest to the game.
